Hoarfrost The forest as outsiders see it is a cold, horrible place where only death comes to those who enter. The quiet expanse of frozen trees and snow-covered clearings hold nothing of value. This like most of nature is a trick. To those staying, welcome to the land the cold doesn't' sting so bad. Strangely verdant plant life lives just under the fresh snow if you know where to look. The land is all but quiet. Every morning before dawn Hoarfrost heads out into the clearing and begins her work. Helping to feed the many, many denizens of the forest. All of the strange and rare species, some only spoken of in rumors. Healing animals who know where to come for help or need a moment of rest from some danger elsewhere.

Today is another one of these days. The quiet routine that the witch has cultivated over the years. Most of the day she spends in an animal form. Favoring the unicorn form in particular. Not too far off Petrichor lays keeping an eye on everything. Making sure the savanna water hole like peace in not disturbed.

Amethyst Amethyst has been staring at her various religious books, and has an equally godly amount of notes. She even has found a book on some basics of how priesthood works in Great Forks. And as for those notes, they are a complicated sprawl of all sorts of different languages, mostly high realm and old realm. Reading the various koans and stories and texts, finding common links, figuring out exactly how to sort out the lies from the truth (or failing that, the useful from the garbage), she's finally got some pages of notes that don't look like a grocery list with things being crossed out one at a time.

And she's decided to try to get back into her morning prayer/meditation routines, for even if the Dragons are gone, they always helped her center her mind and try to draw inspiration forth from the divine principles of which she meditates. And after that, although usually she would dive into her alchemy, today she finds herself idly poking at the snow and thinking about sorcery as Frosty goes out in animal form to do what she does. How hard could it be to do sorcery to let her turn into an animal at will?

Hoarfrost Blending her forms so that her top half is more human while her bottom is that of the unicorn with a bit of silver glow. Using her hands to bind a wound on a stag's leg Hoarfrost gives a little sigh of accomplishment as she whipes the blood onto the rag of sheet she has been using to wrap up. Glancing back her friend she can't help but notice her idly poking at the snow.

"I admit when I have Lunar students I have them help me with my chores." Half offering half threatening in a way a teacher might when they see a student being uninspired with their homework to give a different kind of task. Trotting over she crosses her arms and gives her friend and student a smile. "It is to teach humility, stewardship and a connection to the beasts they will soon be taking forms of. I had not thought this lesson particularly useful for a Dragon, I could perhaps try to adapt it?" tone playful, but clearly fishing for what Amethyst wants to learn.

Amethyst "Well." Amethyst looks slightly embarrassed by her line of thought as she finishes scribing out some sort of glyph in the snow. It quite fanciful old realm, quite similar to the memory glyph, with smaller runes supporting it, and curiously, unlike the memory glyph, places where new things could be added in time. And both of them are familiar enough with old realm to realize what it is that she's written in the snow: <Transform>

"The Dragon in me would have me spar to keep my fever under check. To have discipline and honor. To know that I am to one day watch over this world as I am watched over now. As a Dragon, my station requires such a duty. To keep rogue gods under control and within the prayer calender, to crush those who threaten the peace and to ensure civility." Amethyst looks out towards a particular direction: Westward. "I scarcely think a tenth of us right now are paying mind to any of these things. And those that are, think the other Chosen are a bigger threat to this world than anything else."

Clearly Amethyst is too ashamed to share what she /was/ think about through words. And someone has definitely been putting something together from these texts of hers.

Hoarfrost Hoarfrost's eyes linger on the runes a while. Almost able to feel them signing in the snow on the part of earth she is most connected to. Concentrating she adds a line to a character, and another rune, as if idly helping with a friend's puzzle. Doing so without actually touching the snow. Sorcerous essence of her control spell giving her minor control over the water around her.

"Your likely correct." Eyes moving from the runes to match Amethyst's west word. There is a look on her face like she is inclined to add more but thinks better of it before turning back to her student. "So you want to spar. Steward or Dragon I suppose this part was inevitable." Giving a sigh and mentally calling her familiar over. The massive wolf coming to dutifully attend. "You already have a weapon of choice, but I think if we are going to do this unarmed combat is most important, at least to start." There is a reluctance to her but she begins to move out into the clearing. Already Petra has begun walking in a circle in the snow marking out the area for the fight. "Do you have any skill in this?" curious as to what level they will be starting out at.

Amethyst Amethyst gives an embarrassed smile as her friend and mentor helps with her puzzle. Being called Dragon /or/ Steward catches her off guard tho. And she closes her eyes briefly wondering about the Stewards. She has nothing but what she's seen from her friend to go off of. They're like nature's equivalent of what the Immaculate Philosophy expects the Dragons to do with their civilization. How different is her path from that of a Steward? And she had been quietly wishing that she could do the sorts of things her friends could. And she's always tried to stiffle those thoughts. But maybe she shouldn't. And she can't help but wonder aloud, "<Could there be a moon dragon? Could I be...?>" She thought she was quiet, andsShe wasn't exactly paying attention to the rest of what Frosty had said tho.

"Steward /and/ Dragon." Amethyst decides, grinning. And it takes her only a few moments to catch up to the world around her. "Uh, fists." She pounds her hand against her fist, and looks at Petra. "I'm afraid I don't know too much about hand-to-hand combat. My father did train me, but it didn't stay with me after I learned Blood Lash."

Hoarfrost "<We are what we make ourselves.>" Hoarfrost responds "<Though often it is hard to see the shape we are taking mid swing>." It sounds like a quote. The witch not one for kaons typically. Settling in the middle of the ring and offering Amethyst a spot opposite of her with a gesture. Perta meanwhile looms over them both pacing around the circle as she does like she is looking for an excuse to strike, eyes meeting the dragon's as they investigate the other.

"That is fine I'm not very experienced myself. It will make a more even match. Then when your tiered of tossing me around you can take a turn with Petra. This shall help you work out some of that -mmm aggression is what I'm used to saying but that doesn't seem entirely right Dragon Steward." Working the title into her repertoire of titles rather smoothly. "Fight? Energy?" musing aloud.

Amethyst Amethyst listens, and considers, and nods to her mentor. "<I'll have to think on it. Maybe sometime you can teach me more about Luna?>" And she smiles. Her eyes meet the mighty beast that once had once had their tooth above her neck. And who had spared her life. One day, she thinks, she'll square off with the beast. But she is so glad that she's not trying to do it bare-handed now.

She then considers her friend's words. "Aggression is probably fairly accurate. Tho with me, I feel more like a storm of /every/ emotion. From sorrow to joy to intense thought to, of course, anger." She grins and eyes her mentor, wondering just how well she'll do.

Hoarfrost Petrichor eyes the other back. Eyes a bright light blue that almost seems to glow. Her ears are up alert but not distressed. Teeth gratefully not bared. The meeting of eyes broken as she turns to nudge an large rabbit away from getting too close to the circle with its muzzle. Ever so careful of the smaller thing. Now it is clear a few animals have gathered curiously to watch what is about to happen "It is still different for us, but not entirely so." Hoarfrost takes no stance, adopts no kata or form as she squares up to her student. "There is rage, a need to enact change, a drive that is often blinding. These things are all useful in their moment. Much like your own torrent of emotions you need to learn how to use it. To let your essence come alive with it on your command." She takes a deep breath of the crisp winter air. "Now to start. Take that frustration that has been building, the discontent, the RAGE, and let it out. Let it flow from you and feel its full force. You need to know it before you can master it." And without warning or pretense her body turns and her back legs buck out.
Amethyst Amethyst focuses as she listens, feeling the pool of energy deep within her, the essence that surges with need, the emotional storm that she must learn to ride and direct. And so it is with that fury that she throws herself forward, with nothing but the storm in her heart guiding her punch, at her mentor, at her opponent, at the exact moment the unicorntaur tries with her back legs.
Hoarfrost The attack while not announced is telegraphed a mile away and time begins to slow to the space between heartbeats enough so they act at once together. Even as Hoarfrost turns Amethyst has already entered her guard. Her kick while clipping Amethyst totally overshadowed by the effect of her students attack putting her on the back foot already.
Amethyst Whatever Frost was expecting, it wasn't Amethyst grabbing one of her legs and twisting. It's painful and it leaves her vulnerable for just a moment, while Amethyst jumps back, and then goes for a bodyslam against Frost's torso!
Hoarfrost Already she is starting to loose control of the combat as she is body slammed and about knocked off her hooves. "You see you essence aids you. Even though you lost much of what was taught you essence brings out your limitless skill in all things." Voice a bit more harried than before. Not expecting her student to be such a quick learner. "Shall we increase the difficulty?" she offers with a nervous chuckle. While moving as far as she can to jockey for space from the other, mid run her form shifts with silver and instead of Hoarfrost a large snow leopard pads through the show. Its eyes the same pink and its spots faded barely visible against the white.
Amethyst Amethyst tries to keep pace! She really does, but her legs are only so fast. COnsequences of being short. But she inhales, centering herself mid-run just for and instance, and then pours her storm into her run!
Hoarfrost The large cat has an easy time of staying ahead of the two footed foe. It almost seems to be smiling as it runs through the arena. Waiting for the last moment before spinning with a spray of white snow and charging directly at Amethyst. Pouncing its whole body right into her. The formerly sloppy movements of the untrained fighter driven entirely by the animal instinct she has taken.
Hoarfrost Amethyst breaks out of the grapple and the snow Leopard that is Hoarfrost hops away. The Lunar feels it before the other even acts. The smell of sorcery in the heart of her sanctum. The Demesne around them pulsing with energy ready to provide for the spell. With one powerful leap she is again on top of the girl this time her mouth entirely clamped around her throat with such perfect pressure to not draw blood but also leave no question on who had the combat. Waiting a moment to confirm Amethyst agreed with the outcome before letting the other go. Nuzzling against her and licking the little wound again. Saying "~Sorry~" as clear as day without saying a word "~You did good!~"
Amethyst An alchemical canister flies out of her hand and explodes in mid-air, releasing a foul smell and a wave of essence. Amethyst stops moving, and chuckles. "I Just couldn't keep up after you shapeshifted! I think I need to try with my whip next time." She says, relaxing and nuzzling back. "~All is forgiven,~" is communicated back with her own nuzzles. "You're a lot tougher than I would've given you credit for."
Hoarfrost As Amethyst nuzzles back the deep body shaking purrs begin. Followed by more licks as she completely flops into the snow next to her friend and student. "~I would not be aloud to train Lunars if I was helpless.~" the Snow-Frost cat preens a little with her body language that somehow is actual language. "~Together me and Petra are a fighting force. I still am curious to learn your whip spell. It give me ideas~." So much is said with simple movements of the head, a slow blink and then the swish of a tail.
Amethyst "I underestimated you." Amethyst might be able to do simple communications with her body language, but she can't do all of that. "What about the whip?" She asks, snuzzling against her friend. Her expression tho reads something like "~I wish I could be so snuggly~"
