Bright Journey Well, this is life in the Temple District. Another fine evening, not too cool, not too overcast. The moonlight is partially visible, but it's outshone by countless lanterns and obscured by banners and streamers everyehere, all in yellows and oranges in honor of...well, -some- god or other. It's not immediately obvious who. Judging by the crush of people, overflowing libations, and typically scanty clothing, though, it looks like it's one of those festivals that will last until morning.

That would be more impressive if these things didn't happen once every couple weeks or so. The Temple District is like that.

Most of the festivities are happening near the enter of the Temple District, which is to say, the center of town. If Silk and Bright had been traveling to, say, a temple to Gaia, they'd get trampled. As it is, though, staying outside the most raucous streets is relatively easy. The music and revelry make for an interesting backdrop, though, as the two of them stroll through the expansive city.

"So," Bright says, giving Silk a sidelong glance, "what's the occasion? I have to admit the time when I leave -is- drawing nearer, but it shouldn't be nearly as long a trek as I'd originally envisioned...even if I've yet to lock down the destination. We've time. And I have had a thought, of sorts, if I can manage it..."

Silk Moon Lotus Silk smiles as they pass by a small group of people who have clearly started celebrating earlier that everyone else. She is dressed to blend in with the crowd tonight, a dress that shifts from orange to yellow like the rising or setting sun. "Ah, it feels good to be out in the people." She breathes deeply taking in the smells of the street then coughs a little. "They may be smoking a few too many herbs this early in the evening. They will not last to see the sunrise."
Silk looks to Bright "I'm glad to hear that your time has been well spent in exploring the mysteries of the world. I do not claim to fully understand what it is that you have learned. I have spent some time reading up on ghosts and such. I felt it wise with all the things that live here." She spins around a couple lost in a deep embrace and smiles when she finishes.
Bright Journey Bright grins in reply, flipping her hair back so it brushed against one of the streamers. "Doesn't it, though? Don't get me wrong, I've sat down and done a lot of reading lately. Your discovery was flat amazing, no lie. But..." She shrugs, grinning. "You know me. That world is a place I visit from time to time. It's never home, even when it's -in- our home!" She laughs, inhaling a bit of the herb smoke along the way. "Well, they'll be hungry and fall asleep, not get -killed- by the smoke. They might get rolled pretty hard, though, at that rate. Glad I'm not their landlord."

Bright simply nods in reply to the mysteries of the world comment. Her new multicolored, slowly shifting irises underline the strange otherworldliness of all that she's been delving in the past months. "I think that -is- wise, to be honest. Obviously I was reading a different set of books, and putting that to use elsewhere. But one of the things reading all that taught me is there's a lot about Creation I don't really know. Some of the more esoteric books tended to assume I knew some things I didn't, which made things even more fun. The public library did much the same, but it wasn't as bad...no doubt because these books are far older."

Bright glances at the embracing couple with a fond smile, but doesn't comment on them, instead looking at Silk curiously. "As for what I've learned...well, it's certainly nothing you couldn't do yourself, I'm sure. You're sharp and motivated. It was a lot more than just reading books, though, at least for me personally. I kind of...had to come up with an idea and prove it right. Almost like...what do those professors call...? Oh, right, dissertation. But all in my head, really." She chuckles a bit. "Maybe it's a lot harder to explain than I thought."

Silk Moon Lotus Silk nods her head in understanding "Kind of like figuring out how to sing or play an instrument without a teacher?" Silk steps to the beat of the distant drums. "Or perhaps it is more like dancing, you have to learn to feel it with your body? Can I dance magic instead of through some arcane formula?" Though her expression looks honest, she has a smirk on her face that says she's only half serious.
As they come to an intersection, Silk walks over to a food cart and get a pair of meat sticks. She walks back over and hands on to Bright. "This smells amazing, enjoy!"
Bright Journey "Actually, Silk, I expect you might be able to," Bright replies, grinning. "One of the things every single one of those books agreed on was that everyone has their own path. You kind of have to follow it yourself, and in some cases--like mine--you have to come up with it yourself, too. Far as I know, no one has done it quite the way I did." She chuckles. "Then again, the people who write that kind of book aren't the type to learn by wrapping people about their pinkies, so who's to say they knew everything? Seems to me like dance might be a way to do it too. If it can be done by studying plants, or in my case studying people, or whatever. The key, at least for me, was to learn how to see what happened..." She sighs, searching for words. "...underneath the surface. Invisibly, how what people think and do affect Creation. Again, it's -really- hard to explain. But your way could be completely different, you know. Don't assume it would be like mine."

She gratefully accepts a meat stick. "Hey, thanks! See, Temple District fare -should- smell divine! All in the name." She laughs and, true to Silk's instruction, enjoys.

"So. Meant to ask this before we left, but thought I'd run it by you before I forgot. I was talking about my newfound status with Rishi and Amethyst, and both of them were asking me to take Amethyst to the library. I'm not sure how the guardian would take that, and it's your library, not mine. But I promised I'd ask, so how should I handle that?"

Silk Moon Lotus Silks eyes light up "So I could really be a dancing sorcerer! Perhaps I will have to do some looking into the books a little harder. I'm sure there is something in there to help me banish demons and their ilk." Silk takes a bite of the meat, "This has a delicious flavor to it. I wonder if it is a family recipe."
Silk smiles up at Bright "As long as Amethyst knows the rules and promises to keep the secret of the books like everyone else. I don't think it will be an issue. They guardian has nothing against the Dragon Blooded to my knowledge. Just make sure someone introduces her so it isn't a suprise. That could go badly."
Bright Journey Bright nods in response, finishing her snack and doing a graceful pirouette, empty skewer in hand. "Ha ha! Perhaps you -could- do this. That would be amazing. Just like trading makeup tips, but with more explosions." She giggles to herself. "Actually, I don't know how to do explosions. Yet. But for all that Rishi does that demon summoning stuff which I don't care for and you hate, she -did- say that either that or elemental summoning can do things nothing else can. I do kind of like the idea of learning how to summon an elemental. Right now I can mesmerize people and travel very fast. There's more I can learn, though, with a bit more time."

"As for Amethyst, so noted. Honestly, we let Rishi down there and if there's one person we know who might let it slip, it's her. Not Amethyst. So yeah, it should be fine."

Bright eyes the skewer for a moment. "I'm an average cook at best. Not sure what they did to bring out the flavor there, but maybe they have a touch of sorcery, too. It -is- good." She grins. "Was."

Silk Moon Lotus Silk giggles "I guess I will have to see if there is a way to make that work. Maybe there is a music to the world that you can dance to that makes things happen? This definately is an option for me to look into." Silk seems to gaze off into the distance for a moment before coming back. "So, fast traveling, that sounds like fun. Like you can leap from cloud to cloud or something like that? Elemental are fine, those are manifestations of the summoner's will.
"Well, we both know I have a cook, I think I can burn water in a pot. I think I did that once. I mean, living in the cave I made food but it wasn't great. Half cooked or burnt were the two ways I could do it." She looks at her empty skewer "Maybe there is a little magic in cooking."
Bright Journey At this, Bright's voice is a little more serious, pitched just a touch lower. "I think there's a little magic min anything that takes effort and understanding. Not that I'd try to learn sorcery through cooking, but you see what I'm getting at. If there's a way to cast sorcery through dance, I'm sure if you buckle down you might be able to find it. I'll pick out the books I found the most helpful on the 'how to find your own path to sorcery' thing.

"As for traveling, oh, it's a lot faster than cloud hopping! A lot more wild, too." She grins brilliantly. "I can ride a whirlwind! And I can take you with me if I want. It's just as wild a ride as you think, though--bring a hairbrush." She laughs. "But it's SO fast. I'll take you with me somewhere if you want, just to show you how fast it is."

Silk Moon Lotus Silk laughs "That sounds amazing. I will tkae you up on the books and the ride. I'm sure if I figure it out, my path to sorcery will be different. Your description makes me thing everyone learns it a little differently."
As the pass another vendor, this time with drinks, Silk stops to get them both refreshments. She smells it, then takes a sip. "Oh, how delightfully fruity!" She places a small piece of silver on the cart for the vendor. "A blessing upon your family on this holy day." She says to the merchant and rejoins Bright. "Do enjoy, delightful and refreshing."
Bright Journey Bright nods in reply. "Yes, definitely. Everyone learns it a bit differently. I put some effort into doing it -my- way, instead of, say, taking the examples I read about. I think it will really help when I put it to the test, and besides, like I said, all those books are clear that the "path to power", as one put it, is a personal one. But the books do a lot better job of explaining it than I can. Next time I go down there I'll put the best primers on the nightstand, so you can find them."

She gratefully accepts the drink and has a long draught thereof. "Aaaaaah, that hit the spot. You pick some of the best stuff, Silk. Maybe there's a touch of magic in that, too!" She laughs again and gestures towards the center of town. "Actually, the level of belief and...well, -investment- in all this might be pretty powerful. I know as well as anyone how strong belief can be." She chuckles dryly. "Especially with booze and gauzy clothing."

Silk Moon Lotus "That would be wonderful. The primers will be helpful in determinng if it is something I want to pursue." Silk takes another sip from her drink. "I'm sure if there was someone that wanted to focus the energy of the celebration, they could perform some mazing magical workings. Using the energy created by the ceremony to power it all. Isn't that how some of our silver brothers and sisters preform great rituals?"
Bright Journey Bright scratches the back of her head, thinking. "Hum. Actually, I'm not sure. The books don't go into silver magic much, you understand, but I did learn a lot from one of our friends, as you know. She helped me more with my initiation, though. I don't think we talked about workings very much.

"Though, that actually reminds me. I haven't really done much with workings yet. Just minor things as practice. But I should. One idea I had was to maybe allow us to communicate silently at a distance, or be able to find each other. And, well, I'm terrible at looking like anyone other than me, but maybe if you needed a disguise.." She chuckles. "Without tacking on demon wings like Rishi probably would."

Silk Moon Lotus Silk laughs hardily and nods her head in agreement. "I think you would be lucky if Rishi only gave you demon wings. She has sees body transformation in a completely different way than you or I do. I might be able to teach you how to apply a disguise with a few tricks that I know. A big piece is imagining that you are the person you are pretending to be. You have to believe with all your heart that you are the character that you portray. A few good props can help as well."
Bright Journey "Hum," Bright thinks. "Well, the acting part I'm sure I could do. Props would be harder. Sorcery isn't all upside, actually...you've seen my new eyes, of course."

It wasn't a question. Bright's irises are multicolored, slowly shifting. They're quite distinctive if one is looking.

"Well, not new eyes, I assure you. But hiding them could be a bit of a challenge. The flip side is I can...suggest...things to people. Make them forget I was the one who convinced them of something. And I love the look." She grins, striking a pose.

"Anyway, want to head back into the fray? I hear they're planning on putting on a concert near the Temple of the Sun."
