Amethyst After telling the story of the Dream-Souled who was mentally scarred by the ritual attempt at making Amethyst into a Dream-Souled years ago, the two Yims have fallen silent. There's a distinct possibility that the man who's trying to kill them now is the same one who went mad back then. Either way, that's no longer the topic at hand. The strange device known as the Disruptor Lenses is sitting on the table, along with three hearthstones.

"So these are the things you got from Glorious." Ashuria muses as she looks over the items herself. Amethyst has taken to being quiet for the time being. "And Precious Breath should be joining us here soon, she has new information on the happenings back at Leviathian's Rest."

Bright Journey Bright Journey leans back in her chair a bit, frowning as she considers the Lenses...just sitting there, innocuous. She leans forward and picks one up, elbows on the table as she turns it in her hands, considering it for a long moment before looking at everyone else.

"I have to admit, I had a bit of a head start on these Lenses. I actually came across mention of something like this a long time ago...in one of the libraries in Great Forks, as a matter of fact, at the northern end of the city. One of those places where you fight tooth and nail to be let into the "forbidden archive" and discover they're just the stacks from the Shogunate as opposed to the Realm." She chuckles quietly. "The object in the story I read was a crown, not a separate lens like this, but the sheen and color were described, and when I touched it and saw the kind of Essence it stirred up...I think it's at least the same idea."

Bright Journey sets the lens back down. "Simply put, these are weapons that can drive a person -mad-. Fairly normal for the raksha, I guess, but still dangerous. I think I could try to attune it safely, but I'm not convinced I'd want to keep one."

Black Pearl Black Pearl frowns at the descriptions. "I don't think I'd want to try even that myself," Pearl says. "I have been half-mad, and do not want to go fully mad." She smiles a bit, "And the hearthstones I suppose are the same. Not necessarily useful to us to use...but perhaps we can use them as material for making things, or otherwise trading them?" She settles back.
Silk Moon Lotus Silk settles in with a glass of wine and looks on as Bright describes a dangerous weapon of the Wyld. "I don't think you should do that Bright. My guess would be that it could drive you mad trying to wield the power."
Amethyst "Oh dear." Ashuria's eyes widen just a little. "Well Silk, I think we're all thankful that it won't be used against us. And if it's what Silk says, it likely just drove Glorious even more mad than he already was. One wonders if that was the intention of whoever made this weapon."

Amethyst looks into the artifact, "So how do you think we could go about destroying it? I don't suppose a good smash with a goremaul would be enough to shatter it."

Then comes a knock on the door, followed by a familiar face. Precious Breath, now looking like any other Elderloch resident mutant, gives a bow as she looks. "I've come as I was requested. I do hope my presence is welcome?" She enters the room after Ashuria gives her a little nod.

Bright Journey "Perhaps that's a better idea," Bright replies, and leans back in her chair once more, leaving the artifact on the table next to its kin. "Truth is, if you're certain they have no more of them, what exactly it does doesn't matter. What's important is we've dodged an arrow we didn't know was coming."

Bright grins and reaches for the decanter. "I do hope you won't mind if I have a glass of wine, though. I promise I won't get more crazy than 'slightly tipsy', and even then only if I'm not careful."

She pauses and offers Precious Breath a smile and nod, but continues her thought. "As for the hearthstones, let's not jump to conclusions. I was too busy examining the lenses, I haven't had a chance to even really glance at them yet. They may be perfectly valuable and useful still.

"Lastly, Amethyst, no, I don't think just smashing them would be enough. I don't know the way of it myself, but I know artifacts have to be destroyed in a specific manner. We would best consult the right kind of artisan. I'm sure there are some around here."

Silk Moon Lotus Silk smiles at Precious and nods in greeting. "Bright, do be careful. I recall a couple of priests who now have to bow to anyone who greets them after your last drinking binge."
"I'm sure the hearthstones will have some value, I've never heard of one the doesn't. I do agree that smashing the lenses with even an enchanted hammer will probably not unmake it. Perhaps it can only be unmake deeper in the Wyld."
Rishi Rishi has been preoccupied with examining the Hearthstones, looking closely at them, moving her fingers over them, smelling them, even giving them a couple of licks. "...The Hearthstones are being safe. I am only tasting a faint sensation of the Wyld upon them, they are otherwise seeming to be the normal condensed essence." She points at one of them. "This one is being stronger than the others." And she points at another. "And this one is being full of the essence of the moon and it shall be coming with me when we are being leaving Elderloch, though, until then, it will be made avilable for the defenses here."
Amethyst Amethyst nods to Bright, "Didn't think so, but glad we're on the same paged that it oughta be destroyed." But as Rishi mentions the Hearthstones, she stares transfixed at the greater one. She goes and grabs it, turning it around in her hand, like she's remembering something. "Hey mom, after the meeting there's something I wanna show you." She tells to Ashuria somewhat cryptically. "And if I'm right, we might be able to use this to shield all of Elderloch, at least for a time. I doubt it'd hold up indefinitely, but it might give us time should they come'a'knockin'"

For her part, Ashuria squints at her daughter and gently takes the hearthstone, nodding.

Welcomed, Precious Breath goes and takes a seat at the table, "Hearthstones and deadly artifacts are not the only things to have come out of that exchange. Vain is now a prisoner in the highest section of the city. He'll be there until after the seige, with guards keeping an eye on the door. Glorious is mad but doesn't dare actually hurt him. In other news, Princess Maana has been given the 'order' to have me killed. She didn't remind him that he has no domain over what she does with her assassins so long as they don't go after him." She shrugs and grins.

"Other than that, Elderloch has mostly welcomed me. I greatly appreciate your help, this place is much nicer than Leviathan ever was."

Bright Journey Bright gives Silk a comical sidelong look, smirking, then peers at her through the crystal of the decanter, making the ebon haired trickster's image do amusing funhouse distortions for a moment. She then chuckles and pours herself a generous glass of wine. "Silk, m'dear, I'll have you know I am the soul of temperance and graciousness itself. I would never drink to excess, because I might end up slightly less ladylike, which would never do. As for the priests, if they would perhaps stop trying to tell me how warming their bed would dispose their god towards me, perhaps I would stop convincing them their god -wants- them to wear chartreuse and fuchsia on their holy days."

Bright squints at Rishi and Amethyst as they all but jump on the hearthstones. "Easy, there. I don't need another one, but if I had none we would be arguing over them. Give everyone a chance to argue for one."

She looks at Precious Breath with a grin. "Excellent! Thank you for the update, we appreciate it. It sounds like he has conveniently forgotten the letter of their agreement, which is nice for us. So long as he thinks Princess Maana is going after you, he will look no further for you himself. And Vain being gone is a bulwark we don't have to tear down."

Silk Moon Lotus "Do you plan to use the lenses as a keystone to some kind of sorcerous working that would shield the city from a similar attack by Glorious? Do be careful with that if you are." Silk closes her eyes for a moment.
"Precious, now that we are not running for our lives, do I hope the city has been treating you well. Do we still need to remove Vain from the board or is imprisonment enough for the Princess to act freely? I believe that Black Pearl would be the best option to do it so it can be...discreet." Silk's smile fades slightly. "I do not mean to be so callous, I want to make sure that we get any final actions against the fortress completed before Glorious locks the place down."
Silk smiles at her housemate "I thought you liked debating with the priests. They told me they love talking to you. The part about getting a new wardrobe makes more sense now." Silk giggles "I'll see if I can find some more your speed. Maybe a priest from an archery god?"
Rishi Rishi gives the Raksha a raised eyebrow and a slow predatory grin. "I hope you are finding the ...local cuisine being up to your ...standards. I will be checking in upon the local people most frequently and if there are being any problems, I shall be having you for the ...brunch together, yes? Am I being the 'clear as the crystal?'"
Rishi gives Bright an arch, mock offended look. "This is being a stone of power sacred to the one I am serving. It is wanting to be coming with me."

Rishi looks over the lenses and grimaces. "Yes, it will be most difficult to be using these for any of the purposes without going at least slightly of the mad." She looks suddenly thoughtful. "I wonder if we could be using them as a reference to be removing the madness from Glorious?"
Amethyst "The lady still needs Vain dead to act freely. An oath child, well,to explain, when two Raksha need to swear alleigance to one another, they may use old ways of the Staff to create a child from their oath. So long as the child lives, their oath stands strong. But should the child die, their oath goes with it. Princess Maana is oathed to help him destroy Elderloch and not to target him or his compatriots with her or her assassin's... talents." Precious Breath explains.

"Given I'm beyond their reach now I can speak as freely as I wish, for I've sworn only loyalty to Maana."

And to Rishi, Precious Breath hmphs. "If you think I need to eat souls here in Elderloch to sustain myself you're mistaken. I don't care much for the song and dance of convincing mortals to give me their souls like the Princess does. Though I'll give you credit for sniffing out my true nature."

"I don't need it forever, just long enough to use it to help defend this city." Amethyst tells Bright. "It's... like flash of a vision. I remember this place in the depths of the city, a place with finely machined essence and parts I could never understand. Once upon a time this city had a great shield that would defend it from most damage and from the wyld itself. And I think it has a hearthstone slot."

"It might be broken or beyond repair nowadays, but it's worth a shot. And there's no one in this city who knows First Age tech better than my mother." Amethyst grins.

Ashuria shakes her head, "I'll send Roaring Strike to help with that, my attention is too focused on the rest of the efforts here. I'm the only one out of the nine of us with any sense for war." She gestures at her war map in the center.

"Aw but he doesn't even like me." Amethyst complains.

"/None/ of the other Dream-Souled much care for you, but it can't be helped." Ashuria stands firm, though it's obvious that she'd much rather put her attention towards helping her daughter than planning this war.

Bright Journey "Ohhh, no you don't, Silk," Bright responds. She can't help but smile, though, as she does so. "You already have a very good idea of why I'm waiting. Besides, I seem to recall -someone-..." She gives Rishi a pointed look, still grinning, "...said she was going to see if she could -divine- where my mate might be. I won't deny I'd be happy to be done with the wait! But I seem to recall there was a certain someone I know who hasn't found -her- special someone yet either." She looks skyward and strokes her chin in thought. "Now I wonder who that could be."

Bright looks at Amethyst and Ashuria, her expression a little more serious. "So...Vain still must die. And..." She sighs. "I -can- help with his insanity. Temporarily. I think. Rishi, you remember the barrow, right? Where I brought the ghost to his senses? Same thing. But I can't call it a permanent solution. Whatever Glorious is now, I think we have to proceed on the assumption he can't be saved either."

Silk Moon Lotus "Fine, I'll leave the nice priests alone for a while." Silk rolls her eyes. "I don't know who you are talking about needing to find their special someone. I will allow the fates to tell me if that will happen."
"I think that we should leave Vain to Pearl. I can do it if she isn't up to it. Assassination is a dirty business and should not be done lightly."
Rishi "And I am not needing the wine or the fancy desserts to be sustaining myself, but I am still being enjoying the eating of them. I am being told that it is much the same for the Raksha in the Wyld." She takes a sip of the wine. "As long as there are being no missing souls, then it is not being a problem."
Rishi headtilts "Are there not being some of those like Bright who are in service with the Sun back in the Great Forks? I am thinking some of them are being most of the crafty. Once the portal is being created, perhaps you should be doing the inviting of them to be coming here to be seeing if they can be doing the fixing of things?"

Rishi looks a bit abashed. "Once we are being back in the Great Forks, I will be doing the ritual for the Raullaur and you. I think I can be making a small vial for each of you that is doing the tugging in the direction of your Mate after I am doing the scrying to be seeing if they are even being in the East of the Creation."

Rishi headtilts, thinking. "...I am thinking that it might be the helpful if you gave Pearly the clear mind after we are finishing this. And.... I am going to be doing the hard work to be best learning to be helping those who have the broken minds. So, if you can be doing the catching of him, we can be trying to be helping. If we cannot...Perhaps he will be doing the better in his next life." she says sadly.

Rishi grins at Silk. "There is certainly being room for the one more at the ritual, if you are wanting to do the joining?"
Amethyst "If Glorious is a Dream-Souled he will eventually find his way back here in another lifetime, hopefully without the insanity." Ashuria says to Bright. "Other than that, it sounds like we have our plans set. Black Pearl will assassinate Vain, or Silk Moon Lotus should she not be up for the task. I will continue plans from here with the help of Precious Breath's insights. And Amethyst and another of the Dream-Souled will investigate the potential for the shield. Does anyone have any objections to these matters?"

"We will wait until we are on solid footing again before inviting the sun's chosen to this place." Ashuria tells Rishi.

For her part, Amethyst looks disgruntled but nods in agreement to her mother.

Precious Breath nods in acknowledgement, but adds one thing, "Odds are good that he will want to wait till he finishes training his troops himself since Vain won't be helping him now. That should mean that unless we push him into a corner, he won't attack before the currents shift."

"But when Vain is found dead in his cell, Glorious will know he's been compromised and will likely strike as quickly as he can with whatever manpower he has, fearing that more may fall. The battle will be forced on that day, so choose wisely when you assassinate him." she warns.

Bright Journey It's pretty obvious Bright is a bit disturbed by the talk of assassination, but as the plan is laid out she slowly, reluctantly nods. "We are sworn to see this happen, and even if we weren't, we'd have to ask how many would die if we were unwilling to step up. If there's one thing working in my mum's clinic taught me, it's that you can't save everyone. The best we can do is make sure the people that live are the ones who deserve it, and let the gods handle the rest."

Bright swirls the wine left in her glass, staring at it, then takes a sip. She then looks at Precious Breath as she speaks, her expression thoughtful. "I appreciate your insight. Our timing will have to be impeccable, even more so than I had thought before." She sets her wine glass down on the table carefully, and shifts in her seat to focus on Precious Breath completely. Her mien is completely different, all jocularity gone, sure--but not melancholy or introspective. She's focused. Determined. Something has clearly changed, and when she speaks, it's clear what happened.

Bright noticed something Precious Breath didn't want her to.

"But that's not the only thing that has to be perfect, is it? I think you have plans of your own, and you may be able to hide them from her, but hiding things from me is another matter entirely. What are you not telling us?"

Silk Moon Lotus Silk looks over at Rishi "Thank you for your offer. I respectfully decline. I will allow fate to decide if I have a mate. I have other things to worry about."
Silk immediately picks up on the change in Bright's demeanor and is paying attention.
Rishi
Rishi shrugs at Silk's decline. "If you are ever changing your mind, you are knowing how to be contacting me."

Rishi nods at the plan, then tenses as Bright says that the Fae is hiding something. Her predatory smile returns as her eyes lock onto the Fae. "I should be warning you Precious Breath that I am not being part of the oath that was being sworn before. And that I am most skilling in the eating of the spiruts and the things of the Wyld. If there is anything we should be knowing, it is being best that you are telling us."
Amethyst Amethyst squints at Precious Breath, and Ashuria's is more of a glare. "We gave you refuge here, the least you can do is not mislead us." She fires at the fae.

Precious Breath sighs, "I am caught." It's the same disconnected voice she always speaks with. "I am simply doing the best that I can with the orders I have been given. My apologies, Exalted-Ones, but I cannot reveal what I do or do not mean. I swear that I will do the best I can to help you given my loyalty to Princess Maana."

"As for you." And Precious Breath points at Rishi, "Though you are a hungry brute who wishes to prey on fae, I will warn you that if harm comes to me while I am under your care, that will be a violation of our agreement with one another. I would not advise giving Princess Maana a reason to want to wipe Elderloch off this map, especiallly as I understand it," She looks at Bright, "An oath violated in the name of the sun is much more serious than what happens when we Raksha violate our oaths. And that is already as serious as losing a limb."

And then she bows to the ones present, "I do swear that I will offer what I can in light of my other oaths. And if you know of Raksha, then you we cannot knowingly violate our promises with great reprocussions."
