Tepet Makara Once again the false dragon of Danaa'd walks among the divinities and mortals in the streets of this little Yu-Shan at night time. Despite him being on his free time, he would bear his military officer uniform with the heraldry of his Great House and "totally true aspect" instead of his usual kimono as he was busy practicing his blade at the arena. Although he would have flown to Metagalapa for his strange private pasttime of drinking a bottle of alcohol while at the mountain's peak for the view, he decides to stay for a bit in this city as his Cynis lords are probably too busy sending orders...or indulging in whatever luxuries they can afford like a typical member of their House. He would be heading to nearby vendors in order to savor fruits he has yet to taste.
Talon Makara might find himself passing near a door hung with the shingle bearing the emblem of Sextes Jylis, interwoven with the sign of the caduceus. In High Realm and Riverspeak both, the placard reads 'Deos Talon - Physician'. The door opens, and a woman wearing a threadbare cotton kimono exits. At her side, a little boy hopping along with the aid of a crutch. Behind them steps Talon himself with a warm smile. "Now, keep the injury clean. Bathe it in salt water, and change the dressing twice daily. If the inflamation doesn't die down within three day's time, rub it with some witch hazel." He passes over a pouch. "Make a tea for him to drink with his supper. It'll help with pain management." The woman takes his hand in both of hers. "Bless you, doctor. I was so worried..." Talon shakes his head with a low chuckle. "I'm happy to help." He squats himself down, coming level with the boy. "Now then, have we learned something about playing with papa's hunting bow, my lad?" The boy sniffles and nods his head. "Yes, doctor," he says. Talon nods, rising back to his feet. He gives the lad's hair a tousle, and passes over a rice-paper wrapped candy. "Good lad. Take care now, both of you." He watches them take their leave with a soft chuckle as he settles himself up against the door to his offices. He digs into his breast pocket for his pipe and tobacco pouch, idly filling the bowl as he watches the passers-by. He seems well pleased with another job well done.
Tepet Makara After Makara buys some berries from one of the vendors, he would eventually take notice of the placard and the door with the emblem of one of the Immaculate Dragons. He would enter out of curiousity of this clinic wondering who this owner is once he sees the name of Deos Talon. Once he enters the clinic, he would be impressed by the medical skills of this doctor after consulting one of his patients regarding their injuries. He would chuckle a bit once he heard that the cause is thanks to the boy's handling of a hunting bow as it reminds him of an accident while he was at the House Of Bells. As the boy and the woman leaves, he would enter the office as he hopes to make some inquires. "I wonder why there's a symbol of Sextes Jylis here? Are you from the Blessed Isle?" He mutters in Riverspeak albeit with a High Realm accent.
Talon Talon tucks the bit of his pipe in the side of his mouth and stows his tobacco pouch back in his pocket. He fishes out a match and strikes it off the windowsil, lifting the flame to the bowl. His whiskers twitch and the flame jumps as he puffs steadily, kindling a hearty glow in the bowl. He glances up to Makara as he snaps the match out, puffing a billow of sweet vanilla-honey pipe smoke as he flicks the spent stick into the nearby garbage barrel. "Sextes Jylis is the patron of all physicians," he says. His own Riverspeak carries a distinct High Realm accent, and he regards the other man curiously. "But no, I'm from Cherak originally. Deos Talon, at your service, sir. Do you require medical attention?"
Tepet Makara "Ah Cherak, I heard my house used to have dealings there but I am not completely familiar with it's affairs. I merely came here out of curiousity since I'm familiarizing myself with Great Forks" He would mutter to the physician but he would soon introduce himself to him. "My name is Tepet Makara, I am one of Greyfalls military staff. Even if monks usually discourage me from coming here, I sought to explore most of the East since most of my experiences are either with the North or my home back in Lord's Crossing."
Talon Talon straightens from his casual lean as Makara introduces himself. He switches to High Realm as well. "Deeply honored to make your acquiantance, Lord Makara," he says. "I once had a friend in your noble house. But... sadly, they passed from this life at the Battle of Futile Blood." He keeps his tone carefully even. "I've lived in Great Forks for a few years now. Can I help you find anything?"
Tepet Makara "Futile Blood?" The dynast would be in a long pause, just by thinking of that horrid battle in the North. "I was there too. Before my exaltation as a Prince Of The Earth, I was a mere legionnaire helping with coordination when we confronted the Bull's forces. Even with all our efforts and manpower, we still lost. Like you, I also lost some comrades and I was the only remaining survivor of my scale" He would mutter as he remembers the aftermath of that terrible war resulted in him becoming something else. "I do not seem to have any medical problems, one of my officer friends at Great Forks seem to have insomnia. Any medicine or possibly herbs that could help him fall asleep?"
Talon Talon boggles just a little bit as Makara announces his status as an Exalt. He peers at the man through a billow of pipe smoke. "A little old to have been graced by the Dragons, aren't you?" he says. All things being equal, he seems remarkably comfortable in addressing a Prince of the Earth so casually. "Intriguing..."
Tepet Makara "Yeah, it's kind of an unlikely miracle that happened. It was after the battle when I almost died of starvation. Once the blood of Danaa'd flowed through me, it gave me the strength to carry on as I finally made it to a nearby Northern satrapy. Even if my house are mostly Air aspects and not those of water, they accepted me nonetheless" He would tell the truth..a half truth to the physician on what really happened at that day he gained the exaltation. "Due to my late exaltation, I had a Water Aspect monk train me in the ways of Danaa'd, even if he's a bit of a prude sometimes"
Talon Talon's gaze gains a sharpness as he listens to the Dynast. The bowl of his pipe glows hotly in his hand as he pulls at it. "More than unlikely, sir," he says quietly. "An -impossibility-. When I was a boy, my deepest, most fervent wish was to bring honor to my family and earn the Dragon's Exaltation. I did everything right. I earned top marks in school. I was appropriately pious. I observed all the decencies, and I was properly reverent of my ancestors. But even despite all that, my 16th birthday came and went. But the Dragon's Essence never ignited within me." He takes ahold of his pipe, tucking his free hand behind his back as he squares his shoulders. He glances left, then right, then leans in closer, pitching his voice lower. "There's no need for falsehood with me, sir," he says quietly. "This is Great Forks, not the Blessed Isle. So long as they're quiet and subtle, and don't cause a stir, the Anathema might find a place here."
Tepet Makara Damn, I should have improved my deception next time. Makara thoughts as he remembers the words of another Lunar and the monk Enriching Rain once the doctor would see through his deceit and half truths. "Hmm, I guess you are the perceptive kind." He would also feel sympathy for him due to him also not receiving the Dragon's gift of exaltation when he was at a young age. "I see you are not the type to care about the presence of Anathema, for I am indeed a dragon..well of the Moon"
Talon Talon's eyes get wide, and he draws a slow breath. "I'll be damned," he mutters softly. "After all these years... I wasn't sure if I'd ever meet one of your kind." His bearded features crease in a warm smile, and he opens the door to his clinic. "Please, come in, Lord Makara. Let's not overburden these good folk with our conversation. I can brew us a nice pot of tea." He taps the side of his nose. "And you're quite right. The Anathema don't concern me. I happen to be one myself."
Tepet Makara Once Makara hears those words, it seems he's not the only one not blessed by the blood of the Immaculate Dragons but blessed by another power beyond Immaculate teachings. "I guess fate is a funny thing after all" He chuckles a bit regarding their status as Anathema even if they are from families with the blood of the Five Dragons. He accepts the invitation as he is urged to drink some tea "fine, I guess having some tea is nice. Flying from Greyfalls to here can be a bit tiring."
