Raga Shrine-Crusher The sparkling stars above the docks of Great Forks alongside a waning moon provide a little extra light to those going about their business this late. Hard at work, some artisans continue their trade in creating healing elixirs and others still at shaping the vast vessels of commerce and ritual for here and beyond. Amid them, one roughshod looking woman approaches a priestly looking fellow chatting up a peasant about the blessings of the god of stone fountains. Then, the woman slaps her hand against the pillar holding up the shack roof as she looks down. "Hey." she says, "Got a moment?" she asks, with a grin that might be... Almost a little too eager. Uh-oh.
Lin One might call it a strange twist of Destiny that has brought Lin to the docks tonight... if Destiny had power over her. There was a recent uptick in the number of ships needing maintenance and the docks couldn't handle it all. Where there's great demand, there's great profit, and the strange new addition to Great Forks's (maybe an Exigent?) blessed artisans has handily reduced the workload back to tolerable levels seemingly all by her lonesome.

She would be covered in all manner of dust, grime, filth and gunk were it not for the enchanted torc she wears. Even as she leaves the docks, coming up some of the rough shacks lining one of the docks's many twisting paths towards the city...

"Hmmmm?" Her attention falls across something that the cunning might note her EYES could not have seen, and she turns down a different path, coming face to face with...

"Hhhhhhhhhhmm." Her first noise had been ponderous. But now she sounds a little... concerned, even standing a good fifteen feet away from the priest and woman...

Raga Shrine-Crusher The priest looks up, stammering a bit "A-Ah, yes? Do you... Want to know something about Serene Ke?" he asks, fumbling with some charms at his neck. The other peasant has since backed away a little.

"I mean you could say that, sure. Mostly why he doesn't show up to try to win people on his own merits. I mean he wants something, whether someone's garden space, or prayers, or whatever else. Maybe even someone's money if that's the kind of offering that works." she says, "So, give-and-take is what it is and he can't even bother to show up? Sounds kinda rude if you ask me." she says.

"Who do you think you are?" the priest calls out indignantly, responding to Raga's fairly casual criticism of a god.

Lin A stray piece of parchment floats up into clear view of Raga. A bit crumpled but it quickly flattens and presses itself against the pillar. Emerald letters quickly scorch their way across it, spelling out a simple message in Riverspeak. "The eyes of the gods are everywhere in this city." A warning, but from whom?

Just as soon as there's been enough time to read it, the parchment peels off the pillar and crumples into a ball, bouncing off towards the nearest water...

Lin, of course, had NOTHING to do with it. Probably.

Raga Shrine-Crusher Raga peers at the parchment, but knows exactly what emerald writing means and what it implies. "...Someone who's kinda pissed and doesn't need to take it out on her... /Betters/." she says, as though choking down that word. The priest seems to relax a little at that and shakes his head. "You seem to have mistaken Serene Ke for some sort of warlord, I assure you this is /not/ the case. My word." he says, seemingly indignant as he knocks on the door gently once more. Raga herself is looking around for the original trajectory of the paper, occasionally sniffing the air and taking some steps this way and that to investigate... Before she sees Lin.

"Wait, what the-" Raga starts, heading over and then saying more quietly, "What are you doing here? Also why do you look like t-... What am I asking? Of course you look like that." she adds. "What is this about? Aside from random warnings. If anything."

Lin "What, don't tell me you preferred the long hair or something." Lin quickly remarks, not that she's ever been seen with anything of the sort. She does give Raga a bit of a grin though. But then her voice drops to a frantic whisper as soon as Raga's in range. "This city is crawling with gods, god-blooded, AND I've run into like three Solars. What are you tryin' to do, get dogpiled...godpiled...?"
Raga Shrine-Crusher "What, the fuckin-..." Raga says, then tousles her own hair in a frustrated gesture, "/Really?/" she asks in an, "Are you kidding me" tone. "I don't even know how far half of this crazy nonsense goes and now I have to deal with people who can pound me into the dirt? What kind of-... No, no. I knew what I was getting into. Kind of." she says, rubbing the bridge of her nose. "I just didn't think it'd happen /this/ soon." she adds.
Lin Lin brings a finger to her lips but also gives a sympathetic smile to Raga. "Well, haven't seen what they can actually DO in a fight but one of 'em's a lion-man with an army... I dunno what any of 'em really want. Maybe, tug on 'em the right way, they'll agree with you on things. I just wanted to make sure you'd scoped the situation out or not first..." Her grin turns a bit sheepish and apologetic. "Not trying to rain on the parade."
Raga Shrine-Crusher "Yeah, but last I heard-... Well, I don't know what to think of them. Far as I can tell, there's not much difference between a real /shithead/ of a god and a demon with an axe to grind." Raga says, folding her arms and scuffing the dirt with one of her sandals a bit absently. "I mean you've got gods people worship and gods people fear. Apo-... Whatever that word is. So it's hard to figure out what's lies and what's real sometimes."
