Tepet Makara Makara is not happy today especially for what his lazy satrap commanded him to do which lead to some troubles in the Yellow River. Thankfully that was resolved although it led to a really bad taste in his mouth. "Damned Cynis, I would have preferred if she just sent us to a route near the Far East to secure the path to the Golden Road" He shrugs as he visits a restaurant specializing in Eastern delicacies.

His problems were not over especially after receiving a letter from his household back in Lord's Crossing and was surprised it's from his brother. "I wonder what does Serel want with me this time, maybe whine again to me" He slowly opens up the sealed letter while ordering some drinks and a roasted duck to the waiter.

Holegn Holegn has been on a bit of an... eating tour of the city, of late, this time finding herself in a slightly fancier place than she usually frequented. But, she found a spot that felt out of the way, and she could have her back to a wall. As well as eyes on the ways in and out.

The gentleman nearby was speaking loud enough for her to overhear, and she slurped at her soup as quietly as she could in order to hear what the situation was. "Hmm, sounds like one should choose their own marching direction.", she says, the comment coming out a bit louder than she wanted. She slurps at her soup more noisily as a distraction.

Tepet Makara "Oh didn't hear you there" The dynasts was surprised that someone heard him but he can't blame them, especially since most people in Great Forks have heard about some legionnaires that were having a military exercise. "uhm yeah...wish I could have chosen my men's training spot in the Golden Road but my satrap insisted to be near Nexus despite complications. To be honest, I'd rather lead my men to fight off some bandits in the far more dangerous trade than do that again" He mentions with a tone of embarrassment.

"Wish I could train them in my own way, sadly my men are mostly loyal to House Cynis instead of some dynast that isn't even related to them."

Holegn The red-head does her best to look innocent. "Well, you were speaking to yourself, I suppose I should not have intruded. Though, your situation sounds familiar somehow. I just can't place it. Perhaps something going on out in the wider world?" Holly takes a few more spoonfuls of her soup before continuing.

"So you're a commander then? If I were to hazard a guess, a smallish sized unit? Platoon? Company?"

Tepet Makara "I'm a winglord but I don't know the exact estimation but probably just a platoon when it comes to a wing of legionnaires" The Tepet comments as he sips from his drink. "Originally I was just a legionnaire myself but it was in my house's now defunct legion"

"I exalted late sadly. Wish I did when my old comrades were still alive so I could have saved them. They would have been more loyal to me than some Cynis recruit" He sighs but then wonders what she meant by familiar. "Hmm familiar? I guess you encountered s situation like this before?"

Holegn "Oh, exalted? One of the dynasts then? Fire? You sound noble, like a fire exalt." She smiles politely, but shakes her head. "No, it is familiar... oh. Someone was complaining about a thing going wrong. It was Kitty. Er, a large beastfolk, looked like a lion, big mane, well muscled and all that. He seemed grumpy about something."
Tepet Makara "Actually it's amusingly Water. Since I'm from House Tepet where my family is mainly air, my brother jokes about how I wished to be an air aspect when I was a child only for the water dragon to bless me. I guess people can't choose what they exalt as" Makara chuckles light heartedly but there is a grim tone to it.

"Ah I see you might have meet Raul? Great warrior and impressive leader. I'm actually the one who made him grumpy since he was the one who checked out in the name of the Three on what my legionnaires were doing. I may probably do some compensations for apologies due to the misunderstanding"

Holegn "Water, while your family is air? Life has a sense of humour, my gran always told me. But you're a commander, so, you're doing well."

Holly finishes off her soup, and nods. "Indeed, I did meet him about a week ago. Oh, you were the one who marched troops close to a town or something, and that caused some tension."

The red-head nods sympathetically. "Bad luck, I suppose. Could have been worse, right? No wars were started, and you and your men are all still in good health. Have to look on the bright side."

Tepet Makara "Yeah, Life truly has a sense of humor even if it brings you misfortune ahead, but I learn how to accept it" He chuckles but still with that grim tone at the end. "But at least I'm a commander which fits with my family's age old tradition."

"My men are thankfully fine despite some troubles in our last training grounds but that is to be expected, as survival skills are as important as donning a blade for even nature can kill" He says as he eats his roasted duck. "Oh forgot to introduce myself but my name is Tepet Makara %

Holegn "Tanaka Holly.", she offers in return. "A pleasure to meet you."

Holly settles back in her seat, "That's the spirit. If your family is pleased with your career, then you're definitely going in the right direction. And you're quite right, nature can be a harsh mistress, can't she? And we learn increasingly harder lessons the further into the east we go."

Tepet Makara He gives a nod to her words. "I mostly learned that harsh lesson when I was at the North. It seems instead of getting killed by raksha, beasts or whatever lurks there, my comrades all fell to hunger and the freezing cold. Was lucky enough to survive till I exalted and was in a nearby satrapy where I was rescued."

As Makara finishes his dish, he checks the time for some errands he has to do. "Nice meeting you too but It seems I gotta go. Mostly to head back to my city to give out a response letter back to my brother in the Blessed Isle. Thankfully I'm mostly wander around in Great Forks so you can see me again"
