Fudou the Mountain The banks of the Yellow River are usually fairly active. It's not strange to find the colorful denizens of Great Forks out here in various scattered groups and gatherings here and there along its beaches and embankments and so the gathering of one particular crowd might not seem all that unusual..aside from the fact that a good number of them are soaking wet and emerging from the river while others are gathered around smaller boats..more dry then those coming from the river for obvious reasons. Signs and discussions point some sort of wreckage or recent sinking although no signs of a nearby boat exist. Most vessels some distance away, going about their business without much interest in the immediate hub-bub..

Of some curiousity may be some elements of the chatter are various witnesses point to the river and speak tones full of gossip and disbelief..curiousity and concern.

"So he just walked in??"

"Said he'd retriev the masters ship for us."

"Guy's huge! But..how?"

"I have no idea!"

And so on and so on. The river itself seems unwilling to yield any answers at the moment.

Holegn While she won't admit to being lost, Holegn seems to be wandering somewhat aimlessly, though generally following the riverbank as best she can.

The wet people emerging from the river draws her eye, and she steps a little closer, though remains far enough away to pretend to not be listening. Someone's in the river fetching a boat? The red-head steps out of her wooden sandals, and settles on the edge of the riverbank, dangling her feet into the water below.

Fudou the Mountain It's an astute guess for that seems to be exactly what is happening..though perhaps maybe more dramatic looking then newcomers might have first anticipated.

Further out the top of a mans head begins to slowly crest the top of the water. A faded purple head wrap clinging to his skull and matted dark brown hair and the rest of him emerging bit by bit ...

It is..rapidly apparent that the man is huge. Freakishly so. He's appears to be walking and is far enough out that such a thing would not be feasible for any normal individual so he is quite inhumanly tall..and as more of him crests upwards out of the water..the scope of his actual physique becomes more and more apparent. A fully roided out Yeddim would not be so thickly and heavily muscled as the sinew hangs off of him in vast collections of bulky flesh causing the water to drain off of him as he emerges like waterfalls rushing down the sides of mountain ranges.

In short...he's huge. Way too huge. Yet despite this his expression seems an odd mix of bemusement and languid benevolence made even more bizarre by the presence of a set of neatly worn silver spectacles on the brim of his broad nose. Must be near sighted or something.

"Everyone can relax. Your little yacht is intact.." he rumbles out as he draws nearer to the shoreline..bass voice deep and booming and the very ground trembling slightly as his feet touch on more solid land. His body looming up and up and up and the people backing away more and more and more.

Of note, slung over his shoulder is a gigantic rope of absurd dimensions as well, its full length disappearing behind him back into the river.
Holegn "Well, I bet you don't see that every day.", Holly says quietly as the scope of the size of the man becomes apparent. "Though uh.. is a boat really intact if it's scraping along the bottom of the river?" The red-head snorts and chuckles to herself. She raises her voice, "Did you catch any fish while you were down there?", she wonders loudly.

She seems comfortable enough to remain seated as he steps back out onto dry land.

Fudou the Mountain "So..maybe -intact- is not the best word to use!" concedes the goliath. Yes, he heard that.

He turns his head slightly, flashing Holegn a friendly enough full toothed smile. He lifts one arm up, gesturing with its tree trunk dwarfing girth as he adds, "..after all, as said..it did sink! No fault of mine for once." So he's sunken ships before? .. Probably.

"No, no. No fish, luv. My tastes have been to refined by the fish of the Dreaming Sea!" He braces his body, leaning back some. Creation itself seems to groan as the titanic man pushes upon it to steady himself. The muscles of torso and legs seeming to rapidly inflate in size ever larger as strength surges into him. One can almost imagine the sound of his sinew and bones creaking against one another like the stretching of industrial leather. Maybe one -can- hear it.

For all of the display, Fudou's, the giants, grin remains unphased as he begins to pull on the rope in an epic tug of war, one hand and then the other as the crowds gape at his antics.

"I would love a well cooked delicacy of Volivat right now.." he rumbles, still addressing Holeyn as causally as if he were just seated next to her and not towing a sunken yacht up. "All seasoned and spiced up to melt right in my mouth. Oh yes.."

Holegn Holly is curious, and only slightly in awe, as the mountain of a man goes to work. She grins as he speaks to her, and his reply has her canting her head. "Fish of the dreaming sea? Is a Volivat a fish, then?", she wonders of him. She slowly gets to her feet, shaking some of the water off one foot at a time. "So uh, just how big is this ship? You don't seem to have much trouble pulling it, but, to you, is it honestly really heavy?"
Fudou the Mountain "I like putting on a show." remarks the giant in answer to her question. He pauses, releasing one arm to gesture lightly, thumbing to indicate himself as he grins back at the red haired girl. "Make it entertaining, you know?"

It's something of a non-answer. Is it heavy to him or is it light? That..didn't really clear that up, but he -seems- to be exerting some effort given the pumped up look of him in comparision tot he already outrageously pumped up"look he seemed to naturally have. Either that or its showmanship as implied.

His grin is mercurial as he turns away from her to begin pulling again. The beginnings of what looks to be a water logged yacht starting to emerge.. Dragged up dramatically by the behemoth as onlookers start clapping and cheering. Such a ship isn't outrageously gigantic but certainly big enough for a small crew to atttend to the needs of a rich lord or lady.. Or to be used for fast transit of small bits of cargo over small distances.

"Volivat is a country, luv. It's an island nation in The Dreaming Sea.. protected by champions who are said to have ten fathers contribute to their size and strength.. The Yennin. Sadly I did spend long there though I was recently in the Dreaming Sea."

In..not at.

The yacht continues to be dragged shore ward with the giant backing up now..and then finally dropping the rope as the vessel teans awkwardly to its side.

Holegn "I suppose it makes sense that someone that huge would be a show off.", Holegn says with a laugh. "All about entertainment, hmm?" She watches on as the yacht is slowly dragged up from the bottom, though she doesn't take to cheering. Yet.

"Ah, well, I am not familiar with the Dreaming Sea. And ten fathers seems to be about nine too many, if you ask me. Are you one of them, then? The Yennin? Is that why you're so huge? Uhm. Is the ship going to stay upright?"

Fudou the Mountain As if answre to her question, the ship lists fully to the side with a groaning cry and a sound of wood sundering and glass breaking. Fudou's back to it is when it happens and both of his eyebrows visibly lift as this occurs. He then turns his attention back to Holeyn.

"No."

Behind him, infront of her, the cheers turn to cries of dismay and loud curses but in the end there is also some degree of acceptance, as if this was ultimately the only end that could have been expected. In fact, once things calm down there is movement among what seems to be the remnant of the crew and passengers as they step towards the ship.

"It was about the cargo." Fudou finally explains, "I do not think the ship is salvagable. In fact..I think it might been attacked from the outside and something...stolen.."

This last bit is said with something of a conspirational sounding murmur complete with the giant lifting his hand to the side of his face in a sort of mock whisper at Holegn. The giant releases the ropes and shakes his arms out and then the rest of his body, sending water flying everywhere. "As to the rest of your statements..yes at times it is about the performance. I'm far too big to worry about a world too small and fragile for me so I just try and have fun when allowed to do what I do.." He rests a hand on waist and turns to her now to add, "As to being Yennin? Yes but not all are close to my size. It is not literally being raised by ten men. More ...old sorcery at work taking the traits of ten of the best and strongest.." He grins again, eyes hooding now, "Make sense?"

Holegn Holly's face reflects the enormity of the chaos and destruction happening inside the ship, and she slowly shakes her head. "You... might have held onto it a bit... longer.", she says quietly.

She watches as the remnants of the crew, and all the bystanders, slowly make their way off. "Attacked? And something stolen. Sinking the ship is a good cover for that, isn't it? Uh. We're not the only ones who know this, right? We..." The red-head looks about suspiciously. "Might want to expect company. So then... do you know what was stolen and by whom? Or is that what needs to be discovered?" The young woman nods after his explanation of Yennin. 'Ah. So you have skills and strengths of some of the best heroes of old?"

Fudou the Mountain "Hah. No, no, no. Well.." Fudou pauses, face twisting abit as if trying to figure out how to answer that. It's a tricky thing balancing ego, truth, misdirection and the like. "Not exactly. I mean..'Heroes of Old' is broad. It's more that.. in Volivat special care is taken to produce a certain degree of might among its people..such that these champions can even face the Dragonblood of Prasad. So perhaps in a way what you're saying is correct..." But it's clear there's more and he's not wanting to stumble into it. The exercise here must have done something to his poker face.

Focusing on the ship, however, provides a means to discuss something else and he waves off her concerns, "We aren't the only ones that know or suspect this. We're fine. Besides, luv, whose gonna attack us? These muscles aren't just for showing off and moving heavy things you know."

He taps his jaw in thought and then says, "As to what was stolen? Your guess is as good as mine. I would say yes, it needs to be discovered, but I have done my good deed for the day."

Holegn Holly taps her chin with a finger. "You're being circumspect because it's a secret.", she says with a wink. "I was only curious, not trying to be too nosy. So I at least know there's a reason why they grow them so big where you're from." The red-head laughs.

"I was pretty sure you could take care of yourself, sir. I mean..." She gestures at him with both hands. "It is probably insane to attempt to attack you if one is not at least your size and strength." She rubs at the back of her head. "You probably wouldn't fit into the ship either. But uhm, with all the stuff in there now a waterlogged, ruined mess, I don't think it's a good idea to go inside. And it is probably impossible to know what is missing... I mean, even if there's a logbook in there somewhere..." The woman gestures dismissively with a hand. "Hope the owner can recoup some of his losses some how."

Fudou the Mountain "Among The Yennin, I am somewhat unique." clarifies fudou, "So they do not 'grow them' all quite so big but to be certain many among the Yennin would be considerable sizable compared to your average citizen of Great Forks."

Fudou considers thos words and then adds, "..And the rest. Great Forks is far from lacking in the bizarre after all."

He ponders the rest of her words and then nods his head, "I am thinking..the merchant will be fine and given the nature of the damage..he probably has a good idea what they would have been after no? The rest of the cargo..eh. At least they can do it if they want to salvage it. Better then it being sitting in the Yellow River, mm?"

Holegn "Well, you do use your strength well. Uhm." The red-head gestures with a hand. "Do you live around here, then?"

The woman turns and begins to approach the vessel, walking along the keel first, eyeing the underside of the ship carefully. "Indeed, I have seen some things here that I have not seen before in my life. Yourself included."

Holly nods once more. "I suppose there is that, it is easier to salvage things. They could probably rebuild the ship if they had a mind to. Or take pieces of her and make a new one. Hah, far more money than I'll ever have in my life."

Fudou the Mountain "Fudou." rumbles the giant, removing his head scarf as Holegn moves away from him towards the ship. He runs a hand through his hair and then rubs at his chin again, stroking the rough makeshift beard there as if trying to pull more water out.

"My name. I am known as Fudou around these parts. Some call me The Mountain."

He turns slightly, shifting his gaze around and turning his barrel thick neck about to watch as she looks the craft over.

Some effort has already begun to remove the damaged goods. Crates that seemed sealed tightly enough that there is some value in retrieving them are beginning to line the shores of the river as the servants do what they can to paify the irritation of the merchant.

The damage on the side of the ship is quite visible. Something must have struck it..or took a bite otu of it.

"What else have you seen in Great Forks..?" he asks, "..IF you're not from here then yes..the city is quite strange. Strange even if you've been here for a few seasons as I have.."

Holegn "Tanaka Holly.", she says, offering a modest bow to the giant of a man. "A pleasure to meet you, Oh Mountain." The red-head grins brightly, and continues surveying the ship, and eyeing the reclamation process of the goods.

She gestures to the hole on the side of the ship. "Does that look like a... bite, to you? Or maybe a punch?" With a short running jump, she begins to clamber up the side of the ship. "Great Forks? Hmm, people that run really fast. Others that jump really high. Skilled masters who are beaten by young upstarts." She chuckles at that bit. "I've been here but two weeks."

Fudou the Mountain "A river dragon..."

Fudou's words rumble out with a slight change in cadence as he answers her query with that dark comment. His tone had been amused and gregarious before but this low rumble is more serious. Grounded. The frown can be heard in it even if it's not seen as she makes her way along the side of the ship.

"Here? Strange... " His eyes drift to th river again, searching and thinking before he looks over towards her again, mood lightening somewhat.

"You are seemingly prone to a bit of jumping yourself. Curious but capable, mm? As to what you describe..yes.. Much in Great Forks is not like anywhere else. The supernatural and the gifted walk openly.."

Holegn "A river dragon? Do they make a habit of..." She glances up at Fudou. "Why would a river dragon attack a ship. There is a lot of cargo left, it seems. They wouldn't usually cause trouble, would they?" Holly carefully moves along the side of the ship, looking down at her bare feet."

"How much is a dragon egg worth?" Her gaze falls on the merchant, and the servants who try to mollify him. "Yes, I do have a uhm... gift, for some jumping capabilities. And I have been known to run really fast as well." She turns suddenly, and drops down to the ground, eyeing the mess in the hold.

Fudou the Mountain The giant man is quiet for awhile, considering this and it seems a great many other things before shaking his head, "I do not think it would have attacked such a large ship without being provoked or..perhaps..guided.."

His gaze also turns towards the merchant as he considers things but then he finally shrugs and shakes his head.

"You may be correct. A stupid decision leading to the rage of a mother. Or it could be something more. Either way..the merchant's paid for it and if he is at fault..he won't soon try that stunt again."

Tightening his rope belt some, the huge man approaches the side of the ship now, looking it over, "But if he's -not- the source of his own troubles.. then a dragon or something else lurks in these waters and is bold enough to attack a ship like this.. I don't put it past anyone to be attempting to train such a beast to do its dirty work. But we speculate far too much and investigation..it isn't my thing."

Holegn "There are numerous possibilities. I hope it does not lead to more attacks, though..." Holly glances way up at Fudou, "I think I know someone who might best a dragon." She winks and laughs. "Investigation is not my purview either. Though, we can help those who do the nosing around, by preventing the merchant from carrying off the cargo, or leaving himself. The dragon may have taken something, the investigators can figure that out, but not if the scene is picked completely clean and the merchant safely away to his villa or comfortable hiding place."
