Raullaur It is another festival today, and the Red Banners of battle are throughout the city. While many places revel, and soldiers get wildly discounted prices--down all the way to regular!--there are still patrols to be done, training to happen. And so groups of lion-men in leather armor are jogging through the Eastern Quarter on various patrol routes, while standing in one of the main squares is a taller, stronger one, just in unbleahed linens with leather elbows and knees. And lustrous gold beads braided into his mane. As the others jog by, he snarls at them, sometimes encouraging, sometimes disparaging.
Nanashi Nanashi cracked a yawn as he wandered through Great Forks again. Not much sleep last night. Again. He needed a new roof to sleep on, this tavern was a bit too lively at night. More importantly a'course he needed to eat. Needed money to be doing that, so he went downtown to find some work. Hopefully something easy like sniffing out a missing kid or something he could finish in a day or two.

Unfortunately being as swamped in his thoughts as he was, he missed the rather obvious seven foot tall beastfolk in the midst of the square, bumping into him. A blink as he looked at a hairy chest. Then looked up to a leonine muzzle.

"Ah, sorry. My bad Aniki.", Nanashi bowed his head a bit. "Say you don't know anyone around the neighborhood looking for some helping hands do ya?"

Raullaur Raullaur puts one paw back to keep his poise and balance. "Easy, friend," he says, the voice a deep, resonant, purring bass. "Watch where you walk--others might take offense." His muzzle curls up, showing fangs in what might be an attempt at a human's grin. "And help? Depends on what you can do. Almost all my company is my tribe, but we have some outside specialists. Otherwise, I know who to talk to around here."
Nanashi He wasn't quite sure if the smile was supposed to be friendly or intimidating. Some damn big teeth either way. But the way the fella dressed and sounded seemed like he knew the score here. ...Come to think of it, he'd heard somebody mention something about a beastfolk mercenary captain being a local badass. The fella certainly fit the bill.

"I got a good nose for trouble. And the arm to get into and back out of it too. Pretty good at finding hidden or hiding things as well. Folks tend to overlook ya when ya don't look that impressive."

Raullaur "Well, sounds good...so you might be a good scout..." He chuckles slightly. "Not sure we're hiring to be part of the tribe, though. But there are places about...I can pay for information that we can't get...how does that sound? There's a particular bandit gang that might be aroudn here, or maybe farther west towards the coast."
Nanashi "That's alright. I don't think I'm good-looking enough for anyone to think I'm beastfolk, much less a lion." Nanashi gave a nod. "Sounds pretty good, though I hate to put you out like that. I could say something like "I'll definitely pay you back" but I'll need money in the first place."

Bandits huh? ...Hopefully no women amongst them that he knew. Last thing he needed was to have a run in with Onibaba while he was just trying to make some quick jade. "Right, I shoulda said earlier, I'm Nanashi. And thanks for the help."

Raullaur "Raullaur," he saus in return, almost growling his name. "The bandits, well, they killed the family of a close friend, and so I want to find them, and when I do, well..." Those golden eyes are hard. "But I and mine stick out too much, so I'm willing to pay for such information."
Nanashi "Sorry for your loss." He gave a little inclination of his head. Explained a fair bit of things. "Hm." The swordsman turned some ideas over in his head. "Can't say I know much about the bandits around here." The Full Moon rubbed his chin. "But they probably don't know me, and I wouldn't mind giving ya a hand in getting rid of them."
Raullaur "Good. I can give you a bit of money as a retainer, and if you come up with information, well, a handsome reward," the lion says before offering his hand, clawpoints deliberately withdrawing.
Nanashi "That sounds like a pretty good deal to me." The vagabond clapped hands with the beastfolk, giving him a firm shake of hands. "Can't promise I'll hear anything in particular, I been away from town fer a bit, but if I can find something that belonged to one of the bastards I stand a pretty good chance of sniffing them out. Can you tell me anything about them?"
Raullaur "All of them are tattooed, a crude mark," and Raullaur goes on to describe it. "I knoew they were active to the west near the coast, but I don't know now."
Nanashi "They're probably still along the coastline then. Lots of traffic, lots of pickings, and places to hide." Had their own little sigil eh? Might be a bit better organized then the usual desperate sorts. "They target your friend for a reason, or is it just something that happened?" Wouldn't be the first time some folk got made patsies out of someone eager to play complicated games of Gateway.
Raullaur "You know...maybe we can sit down over dinner and get that information together," he says with a chuckle.
Nanashi "Think we oughta get to know one another a bit better before we go straight to courting. I may be poor and cheap but I ain't easy." Nanashi says with a smile, mostly joking. "You been around the Forks for a while I take it? You got that air about you."
