Amethyst A ghastly silence hangs in the air as the last remains of the old solar's body vanish beneath Amethyst's athame. One could hear a single pepple fall against the decrepid floor.

The room is grand, and with the brief flame is better illuminated. This is a fairly large circular chamber, lined with corpses on either side. And in the very center, and right next to where the dead solar's body had been, is a giant statue of marble, a chiseled man with four arms in armor, holding a spear, shield, horn, and olive branch. One imagines it to be the very deity this temple was once dedicated to. It does not look better being covered in blood.

One Thousand Voices, the old solar ghost in monk robes wielding a longfang, is stunned, watching all of his work evaporate in a single moment from one particularly defiant dragon. "You call me mad. Maybe you're right." He regards the group. His expression somewhere between crestfallen, angry, and calm.

"These are the vermin that had intended on looting my temple. Or who thought me anathema and dared challenge me. I simply helped them inside." He explains. "Their souls were to be used to help me rebuild my own. But now that you've gone and destroyed my perfectly preserved form,"

"I suppose I will make the magic unravel." And with a gesture, ghosts start to come from the corpses littered around the room, all dusty, translucent, and with bright red eyes.

"I don't wish to hurt you but I can't let such a thing go unpunished. So they will do so in my stead." He explains, stepping out of the way.

Raullaur Raul comes in, if late, and the tawny-furred man--hidden in armor--looks curiously at the goings-on. As the spirits rise, he readies his sword and steps forward. "If the Sun's chosen defeated them before, we will again, honored predecessor!"

He stands ready and even steps towards the ghosts.

Bright Journey "Were they?" Bright's voice is trembling, her grip on her bow white-knuckled. "Were they? I don't know. Seeing as how the Solars were murdered -centuries- ago, I somehow doubt it. What I don't doubt is this:

"When was the last time you ever heard of the Unconquered Sun accepting a -blood sacrifice-? Did I not just talk to you about the deathlords? Blood is what -they- use. Every step you take is away from His light, and frankly, you are utterly mad. I only hope you see that before the end."

Rishi Rishi looks agast at what has just happened, but shoots forward to put herself between Ammy and the bulk of the ghosts, wings out to provide a protective barrier, even as she's yanking vials of herbs and vines from her pouch, presumably to cast something.
She considers attempting to talk down the ghost, but, if Bright cannot convince him to move on, perhaps eating him will help convince him to embrace reincarnation, once she's done with him.
Bright Journey Without thought or hesitation Bright Journey's anima flares into life as she pours raw Essence into her limbs. Her moonsilver powerbow almost -sings- in anticipation as she draws on its strength--and unlike when she tried this trick on Fudou not all that long ago, today it's for keeps. She grabs a fistful of arrows and flings them skyward, which are suffused with white-gold Essence and fall neatly right onto her bow in a line, one dropping in as she fires the previous one, over and over like a stream of death. Every arrow streaking from her bow shines with the light of Luna, wrapped in silvery, holy energy that sizzles and burns the undead with the slightest touch.

The rapid-fire arrows bury deep into the swarm of ghosts, uniquely effective against their tainted Essence.

Raullaur Raullaur has no range, but is a bulwark. His armor glows bright and he moves easily in it, standing between the hungry horde and the Archer, to cut at any who try to get past him.
Amethyst As One Thousand Voices stands ready to defend himself, his ghosts descend upon the group. Ravanous and hungry, they swell to envelope everyone they can, surrounding the group entirely with hungry teeth and claws on every side trying their best to sink teeth in the flesh of the living.
Rishi Rishi sprinkles herbs and twines vines around her hands in an occult pattern before they suddenly grow into massive green paws, full of thorns and spikes
Amethyst Amethyst reels from fighting off ghost after ghost with her whip, only for one of them to actually succeed in grabbing and biting into her flesh. She quickly bashes it off and adds that lost blood to the blood that's surrounding her, and she just looks angry. Her anima boils forth as she spreads her blood whip out and cleaves a section of the ghosts, leaving charred ashes as her boiling whip travels.
Bright Journey As the swarms of ghosts flow in and over everyone, Raullaur shields Bright with his body, protecting her and allowing her to get on with her grim business.

Her bow is in its element, though, almost vibrating with excitement as Bright snaps another arrow to the string, fills it with her own white-gold and the bow's silvery Essence, and lets it fly.

This time the ghosts, already having taken a vicious lashing from Amethyst, are pierced by the bolt of holy power, piercing right through the thickest part of the swarm. They recoil and retreat, sizzling and wailing, and Bright smiles in satisfaction as she turns to the monk...

Rishi Even with the threat of the hungry ghosts abated, Rishi remains on guard for attacks from the Dead Solar, keeping herself between him and Ammy, just in case he still hungers for her blood and heart. And don't think Rishi didn't see you get nommed on Ammy. Rishi will be tending to you after this!
Raullaur After the ghosts fall, or flee, Raullaur roars and the golden glow around him intensifies as he charges the remaining Ghost and swings. A solid hit, if soft, against the restless sourit.
Amethyst Steel against steel, sparks shine out as Orichalcum strikes Orichalcum. The monk is pushed back, his deathly existence's work is gone, the ghosts he summoned are now gone, and it's just him against an ascending sun. He backs up nearly all the way to the altar before the one who chose him in life.

He doesn't strike, and one can read the conflict on his face, as though his spirit is warring against itself right now.

Bright Journey "Enough."

Bright Journey has wisps of white energy rising from her hair and shoulders, Essence gathered already, arrow nocked and prepared to end the monk's existence.

Still, as he wars within himself, her shoulders relax a bit, her brow furrows, and in a perfect moment of clarity, she knows what she must do.

"You have done horrific things here, in revenge for horrific things done to you." Her voice is soft, but intense, meaningful. Low, but firm and unbending. "Look at yourself. You could fight, try to take us down with you. But you don't because part of you knows this isn't what you ever wanted when you were alive, is it? Part of you knows all this is wrong, and there's a tiny voice inside you crying out the truth. Listen for that voice."

As Bright is trying to reach through to One Thousand Voices' soul, a glimmer of silver races through her bow, Nightbane. Just as in the fight with the ghosts earlier, this situation calls to it. It cleanses. It purifies, with martial might and healing energy both...and the greater victory is knowing which to use.

On instinct, Bright pulls back Nightbane's bowstring...but the arrow that was nocked falls to the floor, unused. Instead, as she draws it to her ear, nothing but a shaft of gentle, silver brilliance forms. Without hesitation she fires, directly into the monk's heart.

"See what you have become. Know what you have to do. Come back to the light."

Amethyst In a moment, the monk's form shines blinding white for a brief moment, and then he collapses. When he opens his eyes, they're clearer, and terrified. "Oh. Oh no." He stands up and looks about the temple, "What sacrilege have I done?" He looks up at the statue, then at the bodies. "This was a sacred place dedicated to The Unconquered Sun and yet it looks as though the fowlest of the underworld were planning to do dark things here. But, my time is nearly over."

"If this ghost would ask one more thing of you, Crowned Sun of Bright Journeys, it would be to lay these bodies to rest and clean the blood from His likeness. Oh gods I cannot believe what I have done..." Tears form at the edges of eyes now clear from his distorted desires.

Rishi Rishi ...finally relaxes. "Worry not, ancient one. We shall see to this place's restoration and the laying to rest of these poor souls. Now that your soul is being clear, you have but one task: to be moving on to your next life. You've kept it waiting a most lengthy time." She smiles at him....though her hands are still masses of knarled wood, bristling with thorns, ready to absorb his essence and life should he linger.
Raullaur Raullaur withdraws and then sheathes his klaive before the armor around him disappears. "A good enough fight.. and we will restore this place. Rest, return to be reborn, Old One."
Bright Journey Bright slowly nods, looking at Rishi and back at the ghost. "I'm glad you now see. We will cleanse this place." She smiles ruefully. "I haven't actually had to -clean- something in a while. I hope I haven't forgotten how.

"But in all seriousness, it is well past time for you to go. It's time for you to leave things to us, your successors. I think you'll find we'll do a decent job."

After a moment, Bright's shoulders slump, hair falling into her face for a moment. "I am -exhausted-. Rishi...Amethyst...I know you know more about cleansing rituals than I do. I...guess I can wash blood off. Ugh."

Amethyst Amethyst nods to Bright. "I'm sure over the course of a few hours we can make sure the bodies are put to rest and appropriate prayers said." And then she adds, "A shame Silk isn't here, she likes pretending to be a maid doesn't she?"

One Thousand Voices regards each of them, and nods to them. "Thank you. I will have faith that things will be alright then. To think it'd be a chosen of Danaa'd working along side one of Luna and of Sol to see me through. It is time for me to rest." And with that, his essence disapates, and he vanishes, leaving this place a little less creepy, but there are still bodies and blood everywhere.

This is going to take a while. And one can only wonder hoow much time has past since they entered. "Let's not take too long," Amethyst adds, "I really don't want to be in this place after dusk. We may have to come back."

Rishi "Don't worry, I shall help with the cleansing and the laying to the rest. But First!" Rishi turns to Ammy with a frown. "I saw you get bitten by a ghost! And you are all cut up too! Let us leave this place for now so I may be giving you the healing and the curing, Exalt or not!"
