Spring Wind The lower city docks, night, a crescent moon and some stars overhead. Scarce few workers are here right now, fewer still conducting business that would be accepted in the city. A clamour has arisen near one of the warehouses along with the rumbling of boots rushing across paving stones and dirt, chasing some unseen trespasser. Cries of, "Come here you!" and, "Get the damned rat!" ring out into the night.
Misa It's not especially frequent that Misa comes to Great Forks proper of late- which makes it that much more surprising that something of note happens one of the few times. She meanders calmly towards the racket for the moment, apparently idly curious and none too concerned about the potential dangers. She's lightly armed, at least, with a pair of short blades at her hip.
Spring Wind Coming from the shadows is a little, brown-furred rat that ducks behind a fencepost as a young woman with southern features in worker's clothes emerges. She looks over towards Misa and her eyes go wide for a brief moment, "You uh... You didn't see that, right?" she asks. "I mean... 'See' that." she says, placing an odd emphasis on the word as though to mean something else.
Misa A pause from Misa, and her brows rise a little- though it's hard to tell through her heavy bangs. She considers the woman for a moment, thoughtfully. "Visually? Certainly. Ethically, regarding this apparent conflict coming this way? I have no particular reason to be involved in this matter."
Spring Wind "Good, I'd rather not be blamed for destroying relics that don't exist." she says, walking over towards Misa. "Spring Wind" she offers, extending her hand. "Turns out, 'Relics' was a specific code for slaves being shipped outside of legal limits and protections, it's bad enough when someone gets to say the own you..." she mutters before looking over at Misa. "-Oh! Right. Sorry." she says, her attention snapping back.
Misa Another pause from Misa at the comments, before offering her hand gently. "Hanase Misa," she offers, voice naturally soft and quiet.

"Well, I see perhaps why the investment is so high on their part. That is hardly low value to be toying with."

Spring Wind "Yeah, right? Spending all that coin screwing with moving people against their will, it's a wonder the Guild hasn't seen people kicking them out. Buuuuuut when you also bring food, medicine, clothes, all that in people can't really afford to turn you away, I guess." Spring muses. The guards double back around, looking to the pair on the docks. "Have you seen anyone in a cloak and mask run by?" one guard calls out. Spring shakes her head, "I don't think so." she replies. "Sounds kind of suspicious, I'd remember someone like that." she adds.
Misa Misa is... either impressively or all too characteristically silent, at this point. She watches the figures pass by, impassive as can be.

"Well, there is significant trade in the slaves themselves as well- it is far from an uncommon practice in most places in Creation," she comments as the fellow passes by, voice almost idle despite the subject matter.

Spring Wind "I mean, yeah. It's annoying to see, but maybe I'm just weird like that." Spring offers, shrugging. "I think people should be free to do whatever, up until it hurts someone. That's what I do, anyway, and as far as I can tell most average people can't stop me."
Misa A moment's thought from Misa as she considers. "Well, as noted, I have no qualms with what you are doing- just perhaps do not be surprised by nobody running these people from the city," she explains, again softly. "I would sooner expect to be run out of the city myself for my less than friendly interactions with some local martial dojos and the like."
Spring Wind "What, you some kind of nameplate collector type? I mean is that even a thing?" Spring asks, "I mean sometimes someone tells a story about people who challenge dojos and wager their reputation or something, but I can't actually say if that really exists. Seems kinda stupid, closing down like that because someone beats your top fighter."
Misa "Oh, none of them closed down. I simply wanted to find reasonable contenders and failed to do so. But pride and stubbornness are curious things, and some slighted students take umbrage with people like me," says Misa, waving it off for the moment. She exhales slowly, looking around the street for a moment. "Perhaps... perhaps arrogant of me. Careless. Overmuch attention."
Spring Wind Spring quirks an eyebrow at the mention of attention. "You wanted or something?" she asks, "Or is it less, 'What you do' and more, 'What you are'?.. I mean Great Forks is pretty pragmatic when it comes to the, 'What' of people from what I've seen. Not that everyone is."
Misa "Largely that I am hoping to avoid being assaulted myself, whilst I gather students and establish my own school," Misa says, somewhat dismissively. "Student on student conflict is sadly common and I would rather it come -after- I establish the skills of mine."
Spring Wind "I getcha." Spring says, before her expression turns thoughtful, "...Are any of them wealthy?" she asks, "I mean dojos are dojos, martial excellence and not usually fees. But if they're getting kind of rowdy... Well, they're usually better at fighting than finding right?"
Misa A quirk of the brow from Misa at the question and her head tilts, attention fully back on Wind for the moment. "Some have benefactors, other do not. But none are especially innocent in all this- but rarely are rhe masters and owners entirely to blame. Youth are youth, no matter who teaches them, at the end of a day."
Spring Wind "Point. As fun as it is, not everything can be solved with the strategic use of theft." Spring offers, shrugging. "I mean most of the fun is some jerk who thinks they can feast while people starve waking up to find that they actually have to watch their ledgers for a bit." she notes.
Misa A slight sigh from Misa, and she shrugs a little. "Well, not to put too fine a point on it, but I am often hired to -investigate- that sort of affair. Perhaps I am not the best person to speak so casually with?" she suggests, a little bit of a wry smile tugging at the corner of her mouth.
Spring Wind "Eh... Justice, law, different things. /But/ I see what you mean." Spring says, "Ideal stuff isn't what we're dealing with." she observes. "I'll see you around, I guess? The guards have passed on, so no need to linger."
Misa The brows rise again just a little, faint amusement playing at the other corner of her mouth before Misa nods, simply lifting a hand to gesture for Spring to go at her will.
