Nine Roads Alani Today is a -big- festival day in Great Forks, though it's completely irrelevant everywhere else. Shield of a Different Day, one of the three Great Lords of Great Forks and its defender, is celebrated this day in parade, story, and song.

While the massive parade itself has yet to arrive here in the Temple District, it's sure to come in a couple hours. In the meantime, Dayshield is known to be a patron of artists and merchants as well, and the streets are veritably packed with street vendors from here to eternity, hawking anything imaginable. It's the controlled chaos of Great Forks that draws people, after all, and certainly the laissez-faire attitude that certain Exalted appreciate.

Nine Roads Alani (or as anyone in the city can attest, the traveler Elena) is standing on one side of the street, relaxed and looking fairly content as she looks out onto the streets of the Temple District. So wide on normal days, they almost seem crowded now, and she can't help but get a couple of annoyed looks from people as she takes up too much room, what with her walking stick bridged over her shoulders, arms over each side like a yeddim's yoke. The stick doesn't really look suitable for combat, but it's sturdy enough to lean on.

Far from being embroiled in the festivities, she's watching from the sidelines and soaking in the celebratory (if martial) atmosphere.

Raullaur As the celebration is for Dayshield, most of the martial organizations have joined the parade, and the Lion's Pride is among them. However, Raullaur himself is not part of the parade, to not bring more attention to himself rather than his patron in the city. Instead, he is out in the city, mingling with others, dressed rather nicer than is his wont: white wilk with golden embroidery covers his broad frame, and golden beads are worked into his mane, bracelets around his wrists--showing off in wealth and a lack of visible weapons, his own power and confidence that none would dare accost him--or at least not successfully.

He has a bamboo skewer with savory grilled meat on it, and a skin of something to drink, and while he may take up space himself, others are not /as/ annoyed. At least visibly. That's reserved for the singing, which is in a strage, looping tongue that sounds at least as much like growls and purrs as any song.

Silk Moon Lotus Silk had decided to go out and be in the people today. She's spent far too much time in the house practicing with the weapons and planning her trip. Today is indeed a day of fun. She is dressed in a costume that looks like armor but it is all very decorative. The metal parts in it are clearly too thin and engraved with artful designs. The staff she has in her hand is very plain with metal caps.
She has been wandering around the parade taking in the people and the smells. Her hair is blowing around by some unnoticed wind by anyone else. She has aquired a drinking horn and a skewer of meat while people watching.
Tepet Makara Makara has never seen a festival happen here yet and it's probably even more extravagant considering that it's like a festival everyday for him in Great Forks. However Makara's reason to be here is to commission a simple relief sculpture with some names written on it in Dragontongue while writing a letter to someone.

Dear brother

I apologize for not attending your 20th birthday and your exaltation as Mela's dragon a year ago. You see, my occupation here in the East has left me preoccupied and I have no chance going back to Lord's Crossing due to it being a strict job. But I have a favor to ask for I want you to put a relief statue in the Walls Of Ten Thousand Tears to commemorate the dreaded battle that massacred our kin

He finishes with "sincerely your brother, Tepet Iasomul Makara" in the letter. After that, he leaves for now to enjoy the festivities since the relief statue will take too long to finish.

Nine Roads Alani Okay, yeah. Those skewers looks way, -way- too good to be just sitting here smelling it from afar.

Alani tilts to one side, letting the stick flip off her shoulder in one smooth motion. It flips through the air multiple times and clatters nicely into the corner of one building and an apple cart next to it, leaning against the wall like it was set there. People nearby flinch a bit, but start to relax as the carefree young woman walks away.

She doesn't notice Silk right away as she leaves the street vendor's cart, a gorgeous cut of smoked meat in hand, but it's verily impossible for her to miss Raullaur. The large man is as well-appointed as he is visible over the heads of the rest of the crowd, and wasn't there something she'd been told about...? Ah, yes.

Without a concern in the world, she maneuvers through the crowd to get a fairly good look at the lion man in the nice clothes. She weaves through the throns of people with authority, but her poker face is less convincing. She's definitely looking curiously in Raullaur's direction, a serious question on her mind.

Raullaur Even in a throng of celebrants, Raullaur keeps his martial poise--and looking out for what is happening, and so he easily notices the young woman coming over towards her. Ears flick curiously and he takes another bite of the savory meant before washing it down with some of the col juice in the wineskin.

"Hello," he rumbles, in a deep bass almost purr, now speaking fluent Riverspeak. "Enjoying festival, I hope?" A snort and slight pull back of his lips to show fangs--though it /could/ be a smile. "Looking me over...I hope it's for a good reason. Don't want to ruin festival. Clothes. Or skin."

Tepet Makara Once the parade starts, he sees the lionman in the center and recognizes him from before. "Oh he's the one I meet last time, well watching a parade won't kill people and my Cynis lords are too busy to even bark orders" He watches the spectacular sight while eating Western chicken satay with peanut sauce to view the parade.

"If only Greyfalls was just as lively as Great Forks" He sighs since even if Cynis parties are common there, he finds it rather boring

Silk Moon Lotus Silk notices Raullaur and his newest admiring. She slows down a little and pauses to watch the interaction for a moment. She decided that his admirer means no harm and approaches with the care free face she has decided to wear today. She finishes her stroll up "Raullaur, I hope your company does you proud today in the parade. I'm sure they will. I hope your heart swells!" She leans on her staff and stands on the tips of her toes. "Ah, this is better."
Nine Roads Alani There's a small but definite sigh of resigned disappointment as the blonde watches Raullaur come right over and talk to her. The smile that touches her lips is...bemused, more than anything else, but it doesn't take a sage to tell she's far more bemused at herself than anyone else. She turns and looks Raullaur in the face, concerned but not afraid.

"Let's face it," she replies, her voice pitched to just be audible over the murmur of the crowd. "The festival hasn't even really begun yet until the parade gets here, ne? Although I -am- enjoying this." She glances at her skewer for a moment. "But I'm not starting trouble. I -hope- you're not planning to, either."

Silk Moon Lotus Silk scans the croud for a moment. "I believe that Tepet Makara is on one of his visits to the city. A fine day indeed to visit for soldiers." She thinks about it for a moment "Well, I don't see why I can't sit on your shoulder. I would only need one." She crouches down and using the staff vaults up onto his shoulder in a sitting position. She spins the staff a couple of times and has it resting across her shoulders. "Yes, this is much better." Raullaur can now feel the gentle wind rustling his fur gently.
Raullaur "Hello, Silk! Yes, I am sure they will. After all, they want to enjoy the festival as well, and if they don't...well, there's lots of chores for them to do." He chuffs a chuckle out. "If you want, you can sit on my shoulders to see more?"

And then he looks at the unfamiliar blonde. "It's begun elsewhere, and will be here soon enough. Enjoying it so far as well." He still looks amiable enough as well. "I prefer not to start trouble myself. /Ending/ it's a different story."

Tiziri Ardent Vagabond is currently dressed in a set of robes most unlike her more usual flamboyant and easily moved in outfits. Instead, something a bit more akin to what might be seen in a deep desert, obscuring most of her aside her head and somewhat messier than usual hair. She still has her spear in hand though, the blade covered by a leather sheathe here in town to make it a bit less obviously threatening. She is standing in the entry of an alley, leaning against the wall as she watches all of this. Her expression looking a bit tired, impassive, almost unimpressed by all that is being displayed.
Tepet Makara As Makara simply watches, he wishes he could do a military parade in Great Forks but people may find it absurd for Realm soldiers to even be here much less join a parade as it may spark a diplomatic crisis so he shrugs it off. But then he notices another familiar face in a nearby alley, for he met her before in Bright's party. "Oh hello there, I think we've meet before even if it was brief in a party" The Tepet says as he approaches Ardent Vagabond.
Nine Roads Alani The blonde follows Silk's gaze and lights on someone who might be dressed as a Dynast. She studies him for a long moment, much the same way as she did Raullaur, but as Raullaur responds to her, so must she respond to him.

It's impossible for her to hide the mild concern on her face--she's not afraid of Raullaur as many might be, but she's still wary to an extent. She does relax a bit on the mention of ending problems, and gets a touch of a smile. "I wouldn't call endings my schtick, you understand." There's an in-joke there for sure. "But I do know a thing or two about problem solving."

And then Silk hops gracefully onto Raullaur's shoulder, and a grin steals across the blonde's face. "Well, there! I daresay you've swept out a dojo or two in your day." She gives Silk an impish grin. Anyway. Nice to meet you both. Call me Elena."

Silk Moon Lotus Silk smiles at Elena "Indeed, I have spent some time learning at the feet of a master. I see you were coming to see Raullaur, are you interesting in hiring his company? They are very good at what they do. I apologize if I interrupted any discussion. He offered a better vantage and I would be a fool to turn him down."
Raullaur "Elena, good." The lion takes another bites, "Saw you watching...guess you're curious if you arn't looking to try my claws. If that's so, well...always curious about those curious about me. Can always use a good job." His tail flicks behind him slowly. "And Silk? How have you been enjoying life in the city?"
Tiziri "I believe so, yes." Ardent Vagabond says to Makara. "You do seem a bit familiar." She responds, her tone a bit more laconic than that party. Her smile a bit more lazy and tired looking. "Tiziri." She says, "Or Ardent Vagabond. I can't remember which I introduced myself by, let alone kept going with. I drank a lot that night. That doesn't even count the stuff I'm pretty sure I smoked. Such is parties, yes?"
Tepet Makara "Yeah, in case you forgot I am Tepet Makara. Although I went here to commission some simple art piece and write a letter to my brother, I stayed mostly to have something to eat and watch the festival. I come here frequently a lot mostly to take a break from Greyfalls and it's Cynis holders"

"but anyway, I'm currently trying to find a perfect gift here as compensation for my brother since he is still pissed about my absence" He wonders what kind of present his brother may be interested in.

Tiziri "I don't know what to suggest." Ardent Vagabond says apologetically. "I'm not much for things. It tends to weigh you down when you spend your life traveling just to see Creation." She grins pretty sheepishly, though even that has a somewhat tired air to it today. "I've been spending a lot of time here though, since there's so much to see. I don't think I've even come close to seeing every temple and random alleyway. then there's festivals like this. It all makes for a fascinating place. Then if I want a change of scenery, there's all the ruins within a few days journey to see too." At least in talking about all of that, she sounds passionate.
Nine Roads Alani "Eh, 'sno need to apologize," 'Elena' replies. "Dunno if I'm in a position to hire anyone." And indeed, her travel-worn clothing does not make her look like she's particularly wealthy. "But I thought I might -get- hired, if the stars align right. You're a part of the Lion's Pride, right? Hard to mistake, you know. And just from the looks of you, maybe you're in charge of them?" She grins and crosses her arms proudly. "Well. I go places, I take things, I take the direct route and when I race, I take first place. Basically, I'm a courier, and now that I'm here whoever else lives here is now second best. And while I'm at it, I ain't looking for blood, you understand, but if either of you are looking for a little spar, I'll take you on."

It's almost like magic, though. Tiziri could talk about anything else and 'Elena' wouldn't blink. But the words 'traveling' and 'ruins' came up in the same couple sentences, and the conversation gets her attention like a prairie dog in the desert. She doesn't say anything more, but she turns her head towards those words, a curious intent in her eyes.

Raullaur "Don't need much in the way of couriers. Not now. Now if I had others out in the field, and I'm here--or I'm there, and need to get a message back to garrison, well...it depends," Raul says. A nod to Silk, then. "Never been in a dojo myself, but been pondering it."

He sees Elena turn, and nods. "Lots of things around and about. Lots of places to get into trouble--some of it fun, some of it not. If you're looking to go, though...might wanna talk with them...or plan something with a friend."

Silk Moon Lotus Silk's eyebrowse shoot up. "That's a very bold claim to make Elena. I like bold, I am not a member of the Lion's Pride. I operate in a different circle from Raullaur. I own several businesses around the city and point people his way when they are interesting in a fighters." Silk smiles again and her hair blows wildly again.
"I agree with Raullaur, there are a lot of dangerous places nearby. A shadowland isn't far away for instance. There are a lot of ruins rumored to be First Age anethema tombs. I'm not saying don't go in those placed, just don't go in blind." She thinks about it for a moment "I would be happy to go into some of them with you if you are interested."
Tiziri With Makara having to slip away, Tiziri ends up looking back towards the parade with a bored expression. Almost like she's one who wants to be on the other side of the street but is currently blocked from doing so. As such, she continues to just lean there at the alley entryway and watch.
