Vetiver Mirror Robberies are not unusual in Great Forks. The many temples of many gods competing for prayers means a lot of wealth sits in the temples out in the open for the worshipers to see, and potential thieves to purloin. What is strange is when its not taken in the dead of night but in broad daylight. Well known priests of the cults taking their own goods and leaving without their subordinates being able to raise alarm, only to discover their leaders where elsewhere at the time.

So far nothing too valuable has been taken but the scandals and rumors caught in the wake of the missing goods are almost more damaging. Investigators turn up conflicting reports and little evidence, but few have the skill of the Solar exalted.

Misa It's not often petty theft and the like catch the attention of someone like Misa. She has other focuses, and other responsibilities. But then, sometimes one just needs to fill out a day.

She walks through the grounds of one such stolen-from temple, eyes darting this way and that. She spends little to no time speaking to the staff- not for any particular skill in swift debriefings so much as a preference to not deal with the crowds thereof for any longer than strictly necessary. She focuses on the things in front of her- even in situations unlike this, where people actually saw something take place.

Vetiver Mirror Boredom is as good a reason as any to have one's attention stolen away from the monotony of the day and it is a nice day to get out a bit. The most recent victim a god representing a favored form of local dance seemed a interesting diversion? The grounds are well paved and flowering trees flourish all around the grounds. Grounds that are refreshingly free of too many people.

No signs of illicit entry. Not that this is a huge surprise. Rumors where that who ever was doing this was appearing to be member of the temple themselves. Nothing, save for the missing items, even seems out of place per-say with a cursory glance. The stolen item itself was a set of geta used only for the ceremonial dance, a prayer to the god itself. No one would have stopped the high priest form using them. Surely they did not walk out of their own accord.

Misa Misa has had some... interesting encounters, over the last few weeks. People not being the people they supposedly are is... not the strangest thing she's encountered.

Rather than focus on interrogating the people who likely did not do this themselves, she takes a moment by the dais upon which the footwear sat, crouching down partway to take a look at the dust of the day building up thereupon- and notably, just how much less has settled where the geta once rested.

Vetiver Mirror Even for dive eyes it is a lot of parse. Many overlaying tracks scuffled in the confusion of the theft and ensuing investigation. Bit by bit though Misa can begin to reconstruct the scene. The easiest thing to parse is the dais itself. Empty now the items were dragged off the spot. Unusual but perhaps it was difficult to simply pick them up. The dais is a display that sits just under one and a half meters so the display can be at eye level from afar. So the culprit was short?

With that in mind the tracks become a little easier to understand. Finding the smallest ones indeed someone did walk straight up to the dais. Small light steps. Someone small and a natural talent for quiet steps, yet felt no need to hide. Bold as brass they walked right up to the dais and took the shoes. The priest who was described as taking it was of course not nearly so slight though.

Misa A roll of the eyes from the Eastern woman, and she straightens back up before turning. The streets will be a difficult place to continue to follow... but along the path she does follow, looking for where the thief made egress. If all else fails, she knows a decent few of the places one might fence this item for the potential cash.
Vetiver Mirror The thief left out the front door. Using the crowd to its advantage if the footprints are to believed. The prints become impossible to follow without magic after long however.

Just before one gives up the trail though a voice speaks from behind you. "You know I think you're the first to get this far." A young woman in a simple yukata smiles up at the larger more physically sure woman. Upon her feet are the very sacred footwear that was stollen. On her hip a pair of swords are sheathed all manner of tokens and charms hang from the grips.

Misa Misa's own weaponry is... spartan, by comparison. No charms or trinkets to speak of, just simply-wrapped hilts on well-made steel.

She turns, silent at first, looking over the woman at some amount of length. Unintimidated, apparently.

"And here I thought I had hardly begun," she quips back, head tilting at the notion. "Would I have any interest in your reasons for this particular theft?"

Vetiver Mirror If she was trying to intimidate, she would be failing on most accounts. The swords are small almost more for looks with the attached charms. Small and unarmored, practically frail next to Misa. The question causes her furry fox ears to perk.

"I could say I was just wanted to get a new pair but ?" voice trailing trying to make the answer a tease but its clearly not the kind of thing that is going to work on Misa. Pouting a little she crosses her arms and sighs. "I wanted to see who would find me of course." Glancing back to the temple "and see what would happen I guess .." she chuckles tail flicking.

Misa "I am not with the city's law enforcement, if you were looking for that," Misa explains- her voice is soft by nature, barely audible above the crowd around them.

She rests a hand against the scabbard of one of her swords, thoughtful for a long moment. "I suppose I would be somewhat hypocritical, if I derided someone for a slow day taking them in odd directions. I presume, then, that you are intending to return those to this temple...?" she questions, brow quirking slightly.

Vetiver Mirror "If I wanted those lunkheads I would have made easier for them to find me. I wanted to find out who COULD find me." The small woman's voice is playful. Almost trying to draw out the other woman. Not goading exactly but as if digging to learn more.

Hmming and hawing a bit she shrugs. "I mean if that is the more interesting thing to do I wouldn't be against it. So how are you going to persuade me to be so kind?" smile going ear to ear.

Misa A pause from Misa, and she sizes Vetiver up for a longish moment. She shakes her head. "I am no great orator or such. Though you have fine enough footwork, seem nimble. Put them back with me in tow, and I will offer to show you how to use those blades as something other than holders for your decorations," she says simply, nodding a little.
Vetiver Mirror The fox girl thinks for a moment. A ear flicks pensively before she gives a nod. "Okie that could be fun too. I'm not very good at sword play." Giving a casual shrug and wondering off in the way of the temple looking back to make sure Misa is following her. To see if she could escape or because she doesn't want to leave her new friend behind is unclear.

Slipping into the temple is easy enough even wearing the shoes still. People just ? don't seem to notice her. Some seem to see her as familiar and she gives them a wave. Other more important people treat her as below her notice focusing more on Misa as they pass. Slipping the shoes off she gestures with them to Misa "So ? just put them back?"

Misa Misa follows along without issue- she's quick on her feet herself. She glances about as they walk... and then gathers the attention of one specific worker at the temple. She simply calls attention to the return of the sandals- presumably for the sake of getting paid, momentarily.

"That should work just fine for me. The degree to which people are ignoring you- I doubt any kind of turning in would avail anybody much, and I... simply do not care enough."

Vetiver Mirror "People don't really notice me often, a benefit of the job." The fox girl almost looks a little disappointed at the response though. Smiling regardless she moves one following along beside the other. "You seem rather apathetic about all this for someone who was tracking down an impossibly sneaky thief. The name is Vetiver by the way." She offers bending her stance to look up and over at Misa. "Who are you?"
Misa "I am called Hanase Misa," answers the other woman, head shaking a little.

"Truth be told, small thefts are not largely my area of interest or expertise. More often I investigate the less savoury cults that crop up around Great Forks periodically- and those who would transgress in their name, after a manner of speaking." She speaks plainly, matter-of-fact, with little concern for the disappointment or potential insult.

"And as you can perhaps guess, my focus is more heavily on my martial endeavours."

Vetiver Mirror There is a moment of awkward pause. Silence between strangers.

"You are going to train me then?" Trying to break the bit of silence. Drawing her swords they don't look much like weapons. Little more than bits of wire ending in a bit of hook. Closer to crochet hooks than actual weapons. The little charms jingle as she moves them, clearly no hint of how to use them. Almost painful how wrong she is with every movement. "My focus is more on the esoteric I suppose, but learning to fight can't hurt."

Misa "Esoteric, you say? And weapons like that... having not yet collapsed upon themselves..." Misa muses, ponderously. She considers Vetiver a moment- then simply takes the risk;

"I could teach you a couple of styles of techniques, for this. One of which I have mastered far more than the other- but the other... is perhaps more esoteric, as you put it. And if my wager about those weapons is correct, you may be unusually equipped for."

Vetiver Mirror Looking at her blade she considers them for a moment. The light delecate blade reflecting with stange light. Vetiver tilts her head. "Let us try the more strange one? Especially if I am better equipped for it." She seems a little bit more exited. Unable to sit still she bounces in place a little body just exited to get started. "What do we do first?"
Misa Misa smirks a little, shaking her head a little as she accepts a small bag from a temple attendant before making for the exit.

"If you wish to begin now... well, we get out of the public eye. I take risks, but doing this in the middle of a metropolis such as this is perhaps even a little far for me," she explains, shaking her head as she walks. "It is... not subtle, in the esoterica."

Vetiver Mirror The sid sighs and sheaths her blades as they leave. Discarding what ever magic has been keeping her hidden like shrugging off a cloak. Maybe she was just as board as Misa? "I can see the wisdom in that I guess. Even if this is the city of gods. Do you know of a place we can train privately?" without saying the words the implication being 'someplace close please'
Misa "If you have a better idea, please do suggest- otherwise I will be taking us to my dojo, which is some ways outside of Great Forks, on the bank of the river to the west," Misa explains, head shaking a little.

"Though, if it helps you feel better about it- if you develop the knack for this style of blade use, and those weapons are something akin to what I think they are... you may not even need to touch them to defend yourself- but you certainly will still wield them."

Vetiver Mirror Vet shakes her head. "No, I'm fairly new to town. I don't have any boltholes good for keeping big obvious chaos secret." Hands crossed behind her head she follows behind Misa. Being careful of course because she is now barefoot. "It does that seems pretty fun. Leaves my hands free for other things." Rubbing them together with only a mild amount of menace.
Misa Misa quirks a brow as she looks over her shoulder at the shorter woman, head tilted a little despite the twist.

"Do not misunderstand- it still requires motion, and focus. It may not be quite so absent-minded as you are assuming. I also suspect you may find yourself quickly desirous of more weapons, if you commit."

Vetiver Mirror "Oh its never that easy." Vet shrugs. She tries her best to walk carefully the long walk to Misa's place.
