Vetiver Mirror A letter just so happens to find its way into the pocket of Serene Herald. "I headed you just got assigned to Great Forks. Why don't you swing by my office since we have a similar assinement. -Vetiver Mirror" a time quickly scrawled at the end almost as an afterthought.

The office of Vetiver mirror like many are housed below the Forbidden Manse of Ivy. A large space once perhaps used as a dance hall converted into office sometime in the manse's history. The walls covered in large mirrors; the ceilings slightly vaulted. Two rows of desks lead up to one primary desk at the end raised slightly on a dais. Spirits busy themselves with the day's work cataloging things retrieved by the Sidereal. Mean while the fox tailed seer considers a hand drawn map of Great Forks. Waiting for her eight o-clock meeting to arrive.

Serene Herald These things, well, they happen. Soon after the letter is noticed, a pattern spider drops a reply off. "I would ask how you know, but I have no need, as you are good at your job. I will be there."

And at the appropriate time, Serene Herald of the Cessation of Strice and Sorrow is at the manse. He gives a slight smile, and holds a bag in his hand. "Greetings, Vetiver. I've brought some peach cordial to share," he offers. "I hope things are going well? I have not seen you among the offices recently. Being kept busy?"

Vetiver Mirror Opening a drawer, glass clinking as the contents shift. Two crystal ware glasses come out to house the offered cordial. "Sorry but I don't have any ice down here, hope that is okie." Gesturing to the seat for the other to take a seat. "Oh ya things are well enough. Nice to meet you Serene Herald, or-uh do you prefer the whole title?" raising a brow curiously. "Think this is the first time I've had the pleasure? Since we are working together figure we should get to know one another."
Serene Herald "Herald is fine. The full name is for formal occaisions. Or if you find out who I was before Lady Saturn chose me, I will answer to that as well." He gives a bit of a smile as he pours first for her, then for him. "I have had enough of dealing with Gem, and glad for somewhere else. Especially because there are some rumors floating around." He lifts his glass and riases hsi eeybrows, "Is there anything I should know that you can tell me?"
Vetiver Mirror Vet rises her own glass to her nose giving the liquid a little sniff, enjoying the peachy goodness for a bit. "Well then Herald, you can call me Vet or Vetiver." Moving the glass to clink with her Herald's own before taking a quick drink, relaxing back into her chair a bit as she does. "That none of us are sure what the brass are up to. The place is choked with exalts of extraordinary strength, and they have all of the youngest of us to go investigate what has fate all twisted up down there. " the usual air of inter-office conspiracy in her voice. "I have barely scratched the surface of what I am calling the Great Forks Polycule, there is more sorcerous talent in that group than the rest of the thousand kingdoms combined. Needless to say it is going to be an interesting assignment."
Serene Herald "Oh? I shall have to learn more. Especially as a beginner sorcerer myself. As for why we are going?" Herald takes a sip himself and savors the taste before continuing. "In any organization, there must be a balance between idealism and pragmatism. Between dealing with the world as it is, and guiding the world to what we would have it be. There is an inherent tension in this, for it is the nature of the tyro to be idealistic and the seasoned to be pragmatic, but it is the leaders who must be idealistic to set the goals of the organization and the low-ranking operatives who must be pragmatic in carrying such tasks as are necessary out. It is therefore the duty of youth to temper idealism with pragmatism, but it is also the duty of experience to water idealism lest it be stifled."

He pauses a moment before continuing. "And so this is partially to train us, to teach us pragmatism. And...should one of us fall, we are more easily replaced than our seniors." He gives a wry look at that.

Vetiver Mirror Vetiver cocks an ear. Swirling a drink a little and gives a non-committal shrug. "So in short, they are throwing us into a confused crucible of other exalts to 'test our abilities'? Fail till we learn something? Teach us a lesion?" a few expressions crossing her face as she considers this. Something seems to resolve and she grins a little. "Perhaps im being too pessimistic but my best guess was they where tossing us into the mess to see if we come out just as strong as the other exalts in Great Forks. A kind of great experiment with the most disposable of us, if there is such thing in the Fellowship." Setting the now empty glass down on the desk she rubs the bridge of her nose and sighs.

"I hear there is a Dragonblooded who has become as strong as one might expect an elder. They are barely old enough to exalt. Strange if true in isolation but they are only one of many such cases. I guess what I am trying to say is that you best be 'pragmatic' we surely do not have the upper hand down there." Looking earnestly concerned for the other.

Serene Herald "Oh, I certainly will! I do not want to make waves...yet." Herald smiles wryly. "But I need to see them, to understand their origins. For only then can I see what their proper ends should be...if that be required."

He leans back in his chair and sits still enough. "Now...is there anything particularly fun I should see or try while there?"

Vetiver Mirror Vetiver's eyes light up and sits forward a bit. The gloom of the conversation passing like a single cloud on an otherwise sunny person. "Well first the food is great. You can get about anything you want from around creation. Fun though ... " biting her lower lip as she thinks. Pouring another glass in the process. "There is a temple to the God of Flowing waters, anyone who bathes there comes out looking like their ideal self. Clearly a huge violation of magic and will be causing havoc later, but boy is it fun to watch who walks in and how they walk out. Every one a ten." Fanning herself with a hand. "Asside from the universal constants of food and eyecandy anything in particular you like to do so I can point you in the right direction?"
Serene Herald "Hmmm...a temple of hedonism? Could be interesting. What about...any scholarly pursiuts? Or you know I've been practicing with Fatesever...is there any good swordsman you know of?" He touches the hilt of the sheathed Reaper Daiklaive, a hearthstone set in the pommel.
Vetiver Mirror "Oh-no not really hedonism. They are not getting hot and bothered or like eating all they could ever desire. I think they mean well letting people take on their ideal form, it just makes good people watching. Run by an exigent named Rishi." Oh her desk among the maps and papers sits her own pair of daiklaves. Sheathed in lacquered red wood. Charms of all kinds hang from the pommel. Looking like she wears them more for show than fighting, or at least what she wants people to believe. "Uh there is one I can think of. Misa is her name. Best swordsmen I've ever met and you know who I work with." Shaking her head. "Give her another couple of centuries she will give Anis Syn a run for her money." Quite the compliment to give. "She seemed emenable to training people. Offered to train me even so you might be able to convince her as well."
Serene Herald "I certainly shall. Now then...who to be when I go there..." He smiles a bit, "The itinerant scholar works...decently, but..." His eyes narrow, "I can also pretend to be a minor god, young, trying to carve out a portfolio...such would not be amiss in the city of temples."
Vetiver Mirror "I'm going as a god myself, minor god of mirrors. Makes for good cover when the other exalted notice you using powers." Approving of this tactic, "Maybe I can introduce you in some of the circles I've stated joining. Get you a head start on connections. You where so kind to bring the cordial. Least I could do."
Serene Herald "It may only be from Peaches of Longevity rather than Immortality, but still, it is a delight. Thank you, Vetiver! I look forward to things." He takes the last sip of his glass and then stands, eyes shining amethyst. He gives a cordial nod, "I am sure we will see each other again soon," he says, and starts to make his way out...leaving the bottle of cordial behind.
