Tepet Makara Another day in Great Forks and while the winglord from House Tepet is walking back to a hotel where he rented a room, he writes a letter to his young brother back to the Blessed Isle but the contents of the message are not as welcoming.

"Brother, is it true that you extorted a small patrician family of their money in Lord's Crossing? What has gotten into you lately? We are no better than the thugs of the Sesus or Ragara  bastards if you continue this. I do not know your reasons for needing money and even if you are the new head of the Iasomul household, please stop this madness"

Just writing it makes the Tepet scion frustrated and heads for a tea stall to ease his headache of a problem that is his brother's actions
Serene Herald There is a man in the young prime of his life walking along the street, dressed in dark clothes--mostly dark gray or black, with mostly purple and silvery accents--aside from green tassles at the bottom of his coat.

As he comes close to the tea stall, he speaks precisely, "Good day, madam. I am asking after a cold, sweet tea, and noodles in broth you might be having here." The Rivertongue is accented somewhat as though it is from the Realm, but the grammar seems much more like Flametongue construction.

Tepet Makara Once Makara gets his cup of green tea, he takes a sip of it that relieves him of his burdens for a while. Once there was a customer near him, he takes notice of his Realm accent. "Hmm that accent. Sorry to bother but I guess you are from the Realm or from it's satrapies in the South?"

"I mostly recognize it since people from Arjuf tend to have that accent thanks to Southern immigrants in that prefecture. My father's side of the family is in the South but Southwest to be exact" %

Serene Herald "Out of Chiarascuro am I, honored sir" the man returns, "And am being glad of how cool and wet it is here." He gives a smile, and takes out some silver to give when the tea and soup arrives. "A very busy city, this. Where many, Realm and out-Realm mix and mingle. Fortunes lost and made may be, if money desired is. Other things search I for, though, sir."
Tepet Makara "Ah Chiarascuro, I sadly have not been there but mostly out of a grudge against the Sesus holding it. Ah I see you like the conditions here in the Scavenger Lands, it's almost as stable like the Blessed Isle. But go too far east, there is a sea of forests where dangers and diseases linger"

Makara comments regarding the direction of Sextis Jylis. "There is a Realm satrapy in the Hundred Kingdoms called Greyfalls where I work as winglord. But admittedly I prefer to wander into other cities like here in Great Forks"

Serene Herald Serene Herald hmms. "Well, see we shall. For now, libraries I seek. People to question, answers to learn. These things a scholar craves like a drunkard wine, master...Tepet?" He gestures to the mons. "So here am I, learning to do. And after? Plans have I, yet plans must change as future through present flows, to past."
Tepet Makara "Oh yes I forgot to mention but I am indeed a scion of that house for I'm Tepet Iasomul Makara." He nods and understands his thirst for knowledge. "I may not be a scholar but I have an amateur liking for the tales of the Old Shogunate and battle tactics" Once he takes another sip of his tea again, he wonders what were those cryptic words regarding the present, past and future.

"I am sort of confused but what do you mean by plans regarding the future?"

Serene Herald "Well, I should like centers of learning to find. But events here my plans may change. So plans to have is good, but wedded to them firmly good is not." He takes some of hte noodles and eats neatly. Precisely. "Of course, save that my patron a work wishes me to compose. And so will I, for a patron is neglected at peril.:"
Tepet Makara "I see, even if it's confusing at first I sort of get it. So there may be some factors out there that may affect future outcomes if we are not careful? I guess the saying the wings of a butterfly may eventually lead to a tornado rings true" Even if it's a headscratcher, he gains some insight.

"If only such knowledge is applied to my house's campaign of the North, the tragedy of Futile Blood would have never happened"

Serene Herald "Hmm...I know not," the Southerner states. "Your realm has needs. Commands you to fulfill them. And with the Empress gone, who may change the commands given? No...I fear this was inevitable, and inevitable will be until this uncertainty is gone, and balance found again." He sounds somber, sorrowful almost.
Tepet Makara "Are you suggesting that the Realm will eventually suffer the same fate as the Shogunate?" Despite being clearly a child of the Realm, he strangely shows no offense at such possibility of the Realm's ending. "Admittedly instead of our enemies, I fear the Realm may rip itself apart thanks to the houses vying for control. I don't know if the Empress ever comes back, but it's better if there is action rather than waiting for her unlikely return"

His tone is just as grim yet still clings to hope. "But whatever happens, I mostly try my best for my house to survive to not suffer the same fate as fallen houses like Akiyo, Manosque or Jerah"

l

Serene Herald "That, I know not. Anyone who claims so a fool deluded is." He's dispassionate, speaking clearly and gently. "Action good is, but right action must be. Wrong action, or right action for wrong end, worse than inaction is. Surely you were tought this?" Eyebrows lift above those blue eyes with purple flecks. "Or in warfare, is action always better than inaction? Strategy I have studied not. Philosophy more I have." He nods at the mention of the fallen houses.
Tepet Makara "Ah I see, some actions may do more harm than good like a person trying to avoid the worst fate, only to still suffer it out of hubris" But when Serene Herald mentions if he was taught this, he replies. "Ah my water dragon form instructor even speaks of this. He even scolded me when he was teaching me for the first time about how sending all of my house's legions to the North was a bad idea and we underestimated the Bull"

"It was a lesson that was hard to swallow but the damage has been done. I see you are more of a philosophy type. I mostly follow the Melaist ways of my house but with some Danaa'adist philosophies thanks to me being a water aspect"

Serene Herald "I am. The origins of things and their endings, how one ion the other can be seen. Of the stars in the sky and the omens and portents they weave. The shape of the future is writ, but who knows what the specifics are? Or if one may induce a greater shape?" Perfect Question smiles. "Only the known future is immutable." And this he speaks in flawless High Realm, the accent that of the highest schools of learning. At least it seems.
Tepet Makara "Even if philosophy is not my strong suit, it's still interesting to hear more for insight." He nods at the "mortal" scholar. "Ah, the future is as shapeless as the waters of Danaa'ad. If the future comes, it shape shall be folded by the action of the present like clay."

"Glad to meet you but I sadly didn't pick your name. I wonder if you will stay here or wander around, but hopefully we'll cross paths again"

Serene Herald "Aha. Please forgive me, master Tepet. I am known as Perfect Question. I shall stay here at least some time, riddles to unravle, secrets to find, and questions to ask. All of which to be written for my patron. If we do cross paths, it will be an honor. And if you wish to have anything looked in to, I am glad to have commissions from a Prince of Creation such as yourself."
Tepet Makara "Ah Perfect Question, a fitting name for a scholar such as yourself. There are lots of things here in Great Forks especially as it's a little heaven where both gods and mortals walk together. Although this city is safe if you don't piss off the ruling 3 gods or exigents, there are some places here of danger such as a nearby shadowland."
Seeing as he had to send this letter to the Blessed Isle, Makara has to go. "Hope your stay here will be nice and I wonder what are your commissions about but I assume writings about philosophy"
