Misa It's a fine, if busy afternoon in the Arena, people bustling back and forth placing their wagers and acquiring their refreshments between the matches they are most focused on. It has been a fairly expected tournament so far- other than the flare-up between the dragon-blood and the exigent the other day. It might be argued that a bout like that is likely only the beginning, however.

For her part, Hanase Misa has more or less breezed through her early rounds, striking down opponents in short order without ever drawing her blade. It's been... almost disappointing, one might describe to look at her face after some of them.

For the moment, however, she sits in a (relatively) quiet corner of one of the rest areas, sipping at a cup of some form of tea as she watches the bustle of competitors and viewers go by.

Serene Herald Perfect Question has fought as well, but has just barely scraped by so far. Still, he looks unphased, and even pleased at how well he is doing.

Fresh out of his latest bout, and walking with a limp from having taken an arrow in the leg, he makes his way over towards Misa. "Hello! I am hoping my performance is not showing you in a light of badness. Your teaching is good! I am simply of being inexperienced still. Maybe in five years, I will be closer."

He walks over and then sits down heavily on a seat, sword at his back, and a tinkle of armor hidden under his shirt.

Misa "You speak of inexperience as though you are not better than you let on," Misa notes quietly- and perhaps... with just a little hint of dry humour? Not that she's all that charming or amusing a person.

"Not that I can truly speak- I should likely actually use my blade at some point here. But practicing the style you were using when you arrived has been rewarding in its own way." Indeed, the unarmed from she's used so far has been the very style Question arrived with- picked up at remarkable speed through sheer observation before he transitioned to focusing on practicing the one she is teaching.

"I am given to understand, by the way, that the healing tent is well more than capable of handling that leg without leaving a limp- pausing before you go see to it?"

Serene Herald "A bit, yes. And as for better?" He shrugs. "I am of having a good panoply, and your teachings--and what I know--I am working with." From overhead, a spider the size of a small dog makes its way from ceiling to wall, to scuttle by Question's feet."

"At least I am of fighting for enjoyment, and of learning. But I am definitely of seeing interesting people here. People worthy to have eyes be keeping on them, so grateful."

Misa A tilt of the head from Misa, looking over her student- and then sliding her eyes to the unusual spider as it settles next to the man. "Yes, surely there is nothing more to you than a sword and some mundane swordplay," she says, again in the very dryest of tones.

"A testing of skills is more or less my purpose as well. The early rounds have been... perhaps not the most thrilling. But certainly at least a chance to practice the less familiar. If I were not half convinced it would kick off an inquest into myself I would test my hands-free methods as well."

Serene Herald "Oh, that is just a hobby. My skill and profession is that of scholar. Philospher. Knowing the occult am I, and a more skilled astrologer you are never of seeing," Perfect Question answers. "But as it is learning I am of wishing to do, so focusing on that I am with you."

He does smile, then winces slightly. "As for inquest...was taught to compare costs and benefits. Risk of inquest against risk of glorly. Which is of weighing more heavily in soul?"

Misa A quirk upwards of one of the eyebrows from Misa as she considers the suggestion. "Quite some skill for a hobby."

"I think you may misunderstand me. Glory is not the intent- simply measuring my abilities in the different forms and methods I practice. There are... not many chances to put some of them into practice without some level of risk. But it may well be too high in such a public affair."

Serene Herald "I am of trying. And compared to some I have seen? My skill is far less. But that is fine. And yes, had misunderstood. For some, glory and riches drive them. For some? The are wishing to test, to grow better always, moreso than any other in history. Myself? I want to know. To understand. /Everything./. And this...is of helping me understand the body, and action. Of the differences being between praxis and theory.:
Misa "Fame is... over-rated, I think. And riches are... unnecessary." Something in Misa's tone is odd, on those assertions, but she moves on before the moment opens to question her on it.

"But yes- a fine enough goal. Most of why I have a school- to develop myself further through teaching and encourage goals and aims of that sort. Perhaps help a few people be better able to defend themselves, along the way, should the need arise?"

Serene Herald "I would like to be teaching myself. Perhaps I will be so, but later. For now...I am of making contact with other scholars, to see if thereis anyone who is of needing things studied and researched, for a stipend."
Grave Saint Amidst the bustling crowds of the Arena, there is a pale woman in an ebon dress with red spider lily patterns. She might be familiar to those who were watching the fight between the dragonblooded and the "mortal" monk. Her very music reflected the battle like the Moon's reflection in the surface. the final chorus during the last parts of the battle had the noise of mountains crumbling signaling the defeat of the earth aspect at the hands of the "mere monk"

"Impressive! Are you an exigent of music" A girl with starstruck eyes asked. "I get that alot but no, I am a scion of Sextis Jylis. I also get mistaken as an exigent of red spider lilies anyway. But you can hear me play music for free in a higanbana field near this city" She gives a smile once the girl leaves.

Misa "It is a remarkably efficient way to find gaps and flaws- a naturally invested person with a predisposition to ask questions is that much more likely to ask ones one has not considered in their own learning," notes Misa of the teaching commentary, looking down at the odd spider another moment.

"I am surprised you are spending quite so much time learning my style then, if you are so much more focused on academia. Though I have heard some academics say that physical fitness has surprisingly beneficial effects on their mental efforts, I suppose."

Serene Herald Perfect Question thinks a moment, and then slips from Riverspeak into High Realm. "I find precision to be very...philosophically satisfying. As such, I enjoy the match between my desire, and the form, and am grateful to have found a teacher. Thank you." He inclines his head gravely towards her.

And then he hears the woman in in red and gives a nod to her. "Greetings," he calls out, back in Riverspeak. "I was of hearing some of a musician of very much skill? Performing with grace for the crowds. Is that being of you?"

Grave Saint Once the girl leaves, the lady in the black and crimson kimono takes notice of Perfect Question. "Yes, I am the songstress back in the arena. I was practicing my music to fit with the flow of battle. I admit, the mortal's victory surprised me to the point I had to improvise the final notes of my music" She mentions with a bewildered tone as the victor was unexpected.

"I am Bleeding Higanbana, a Wood Aspect dragon and Silver Voiced Nightingale stylist. Despite me being a performer, I am the founder and priestess of a local Intou faith. Those from the more conservative Immaculate faiths may find me heretical for I revere the great dragon of my aspect as a god but thankfully Great Forks is tolerant about it"

Misa A pause from Misa as her student reaches out to the other woman, following the gaze with an appraising sort of look.

"Overconfidence can put an end to many fighters, Exalted or not. It is always worth remembering that the ability to pour one's essence into one's strikes does not automatically make one more -skilled- or -swift-. It can help make up the difference, sometimes, but the feats of the Chosen flow from being capable- they will be inevitably more limited if not honing the basics," she comments, shrugging it off.

Serene Herald "No dragon's chosen I am being, but of them, closest to Mela I am. To be understanding, and seeing proper ends in origins, and origins in ends," Question responds to Higanbana. "Perfect Question I am. And this is of being Misa," he says, introducing her.

"The foundations, the origins, must be proper, even in skill, so the ends, the uses are proper as well. As for this..." He looks around, "I am wondering if it is being what it says, or if something is hiding behind words and forms."

Grave Saint "Ah that explains it. It is like underestimating a small creature even if it's poisonous. Even stones as resistant as Pasiap cannot survive being withered by entropy itself" She comments for there is no thing that can last forever but she takes notice of Perfect Question's words regarding ends and origins.

"Sometimes the end heralds a new beginning like crops being reaped for new seeds to be planted. It is one of my faith's teaching as nothing lasts forever but they can be renewed in a cycle. Although my doctrines teach there is a time where even the cycle may end"

Misa Misa's dry tones return here, as she comments; "Rather abstract for the first few sentences exchanged between a pair, no?" she asks, a hint of a wry smile tugging at one corner of her mouth.

"But perhaps I am simply an overly focused individual with relatively little interest in questions of eternalism."

Serene Herald "Everyone is being to have a focus. And some have same. But it is being good that many are different. How boring the world wold be being were we all being of sameness!" Perfect Question smiles.

"Alas, I am needing to be going to the healer's, but I will be doing your teachings proud the next fight." He nods to Higanbana as well. "Apologies. My leg is hurting from an arrow, but to be discussing philosophy and more, happy am I, if perhaps we meet again?"

Grave Saint "I see..." She mutters with slight disappointment that he cannot continue the conversation for now. "But if you are interested in continuing this topic, there is a shrine near a field of red spider lilies in Great Fork's outskirts. My devotees tend the gardens while I play my songs dedicated to my God for free."

"I'm sure the conversation will be interesting once you visit and hope to see you soon"

Misa "Best of luck with the healing tent- it is efficient, I am told, so I doubt it shall take overly long, other than queues," Misa notes, offering a nod as Question prepares to go.

"I must apologize that I will not be much of a receptive listener. Ironic, perhaps, given where we are, but I am not a particularly religious woman of late." She shrugs that off, sipping at the last of her tea in the next moment. "But you do play well, I will say that much at least."
