Lin After a humiliating defeat and massive loss of regular customers to a newly-opened rival restaurant down the street, in just a few weeks this particular joint has gone through some renovations and begun to turn things around, becoming a strange underdog against it - cheaper prices, better food, great service. The management's the same but apparently someone decided to bankroll them and pulled... SOME kind of strings, but nobody's quite sure what. How do you take the same cooks and turn them into wonder chefs over a week or two? It doesn't make sense, but here we are...

For anyone who's been here before, today there's an additional member on the team. Wearing a simple long white skirted-tunic and white leather boots, and long white gloves, hair bundled up tightly to the back of her head and held fast in a net, she's been speaking softly to the other cooks and periodically joining in on the cooking efforts to take loads off.

For the moment, business is light though... the perfect time for new customers to arrive?

Tiziri Tiziri approaches the place today, wearing a rather scanty sort of dancer's outfit in dark blue and vibrant orange with silver accents, midriff baring with a flowy skirt. She ends up approaching the seats and sits down with a smile on her face as she looks over the things being made. "I'll have whatever beef dish you think is best, and spiciest." The girl says with that grin growing almost to impish proportions, eyes glistening and teeth showing.
Amethyst The Alchemical Dragon is not herself, gone are her usual pep and smile, replaced by an expression that speaks nothing of her emotions, one that she's wearing increasingly often. Some food sounds good though, and she remembers this little food stand, somewhere she used to go quite a bit. At least it seems to be doing better, maybe a subtle sign from the dragons that she too can be better if only she adapts.

And there's Tiziri, who she's been meaning to talk to for a while. She breaths in and out, makes her way to the booth and just says, "I'll have whatever she's having, and you can put both on my tab." She gives Tiziri a little grin, tho her elven ears don't perk up like they usually would. "Hey there."

Lin The joint comes alive as customers approach! The owner takes the orders and begins directing the two workers to hop to the cooking. They move with elegance, confidence, and dextrous coordination rarely seen anywhere up and down the street, slicing meat and other tasks as if trying to show off and win a championship.

The young lady, Lin, claps her hands excitedly and cheers quietly in the background. "Wonderful progress. Show all of Great Forks your real talents." She's heard aiming their way in a soft tone.

The food will no doubt be served soon... but in the meantime...

In the meantime, the young bluenette turns her gaze towards the customers and hazards nearing the bar off to the side from them, giving them both a looksie just as the staff turn around with the food on trays and place it down with a quick 'please enjoy!'

"Hmmmmm. It's not every day I see Child of Daana'd, let alone one with such impressive ears. Still... is everything alright?" Amethyst does seem down in the dumps after all.

A moment later she gives Tiziri a warm and friendly smile almost guaranteed to melt hearts and make any customer feel more than welcome.

Tiziri "Oh, some nice wine to go with it." Tiziri adds, adding to her order as well. "Stronger the better too. I need to loosen up if I'm going to go dancing later." She laughs in a nervous sort of way. Then she looks back over towards Amethyst and smiles more widely. "Hey! It's been a long time since I've seen you. how are you doing?" She asks. "And great job in that fight against the music user, that was wild!" She says, almost doing a good job of seeming like an enthusiastic fan to any onlookers, if anything. There's a more strange little confidence about her otherwise, though. The apparent dancing girl seems quite relaxed and happy for someone wanting booze to loosen up!
Amethyst The fae-dragon feels just a little self-conscious as her ears are mentioned, and her ears pull tighter against her head. "Just wish I could be in two places at once." she say simply, then a mischevious side-eye to Tiziri "And you wouldn't happen to know any good ship builders would you? Preferably someone that can make a deck that won't be crushed by someone about as tall as your shop here and maybe about that heavy."

"You should've seen my fight against that mountain of a man. I think I would've become a red splat if I didn't surrender when i did." There's a disappointed smile now. "Not sure what I could've done different either. I'm no monster slayer. Fighting him was like trying to fight a warstrider."

And more quietly she notes, "I have some more interesting things than wine if you really want to loosen up. Alchemy does have its advantages." And there's a happier, if mischevious grin

Lin "Coming right up!" One of the workers replies to Tiziri, and hurries over to one of the shelves to fetch a bottle and a glass to serve as requested.

Lin, seeing Amethyst's discomfort, withdraws a little to observe the work team... after ascertaining all is well, she leans in. "Pardon me, couldn't help but overhear that one... you want a heavy-duty ship for someone that tall-... ah, him. The one who shook the whole arena, Fudou? For him? ...That's either really easy or really difficult depending on how much comfort he should expect... and how quickly such a boat needs to be ready."

Tiziri "Who says I didn't?" Tiziri says with weirdly dark and impish grin. "Of course, I doubt there are many that will challenge him either. Truly, he is my bet for the winner of it all. There's a few that might make him sweat, one or two that I may not be surprised by a victory from. Yet truly, few are as attuned to combat of the sort necessary to win in the arena as he is." She says all too matter of factly. "Sadly, no clue who can build a boat around here. Perhaps some ideas back in the Dreaming Sea, but... I am not a sailor."

She looks over to Lin and smiles again, bowing her head thankfully as she takes the beverage and then a sip. Only then saying. "Honestly, I'm sure some of the larger ships could do it, of course. But... yes, I am not really knowing of such things."

Amethyst "I don't have any particular time I need it by, and as long as I wouldn't need to store him like cargo we'd be fine. Besides, a large impressive ship, built to accomodate someone of that stature? I think that'd be a status symbol in its own right." Amethyst grins. "I'd be happy if you could put me in contact with someone who could take such a commission would be greatly appreciated." And she places a silver dinar on the bar, looking at Lin with a grin.

Then she looks over to Tiziri, "To answer your earlier question, I've been troubled greatly. There's only one of me and too many things I need to do. And some of them I'd only trust with myself, like working on complicated alchemies for my shop or well, learning more about the ways of Dragons isn't something I can just hire someone to do for me."

"So I've been contemplating turing to sorcery for my solution, and I heard you might know some variety of magic that could help."

Lin "Well, you're looking at her. I know, don't look like much of a shipwright, though." Lin slides the dinar back towards Amethyst, mirroring the grin. "Although a ship that size is still going to require a great deal of lumber and some labor. A few days of work, probably." Days. As opposed to seasons. Could she possibly be telling the truth?

"I'm Lin, by the way. Specialist scholar, artisan, engineer, and consultant... the list of titles is getting a bit too cumbersome, I need to figure out a new word to describe it all." Her tone's light and easygoing and full of sincerity though. It's hard to imagine someone could sound so childishly sincere about such an outlandish claim...

Tiziri "That would be very useful. "Tiziri agrees. Something like a shadow to be you again. A piece of you blessed in the moonlight and more. Perhaps." Yes, she's being cryptic, it's probably obviously so at that. "But perhaps not as useful as it might sound either, one can only be oneself so long, after all. This sounds like the sort of thing that would come from the myths of old." She shrugs a little.

She nods a bit with what Lin said before adding, "Probably the best is to check down by the docks. There should be some shipwrights. I'd imagine some can build to haul things larger than he is. After all, I've heard of Tyrant Lizards being delivered through ship. Even seen them. So I doubt anything like Fudou is that difficult to deal with."

Amethyst Amethyst's ears fly back at Lin's mention of 'days'. She blinks, and for a moment her eyes look more animal, slitted and focused, as though looking through her, and then she leaves her eyes that way just long enough for Lin to notice, and then by the next blink they're back to normal. "...Days, right?" She asks simply. "Nice to meet you Lin, I am Yim Amethyst, fighter, sorceress, alchemist." She rubs her head, and then she considers this shop and how it went from faltering to alive and well, /and/ all of the titles Lin seems to hold. She takes her Dinar back and contemplates. "...You're no ordinary maker are you? An exigent of some sort?"

And Amethyst nods at Tiziri, "I've spoken to quite a few by the docks, they all either want too much money and the only place on the vessel that would fit Fudou would be the cargo holds. Not... ideal for transporting your friends. One of them gave me a great deal on a ship that would just crew me and a handful of others tho. Maybe I can take both. But I need to establish myself in Nexus before I'll have the means to truly start building up a fleet of my own."

"But this blessed moonlight trick, it's not something your average sorcerer can do, is it? Fortunately I'm not your average sorcerer. Perhaps some variety of working could make it more permanent or convenient for a Dragon like myself? If all else fails it'd be nice to have creatures that won't scare off customers, but loyal to myself running each of my shops."

Lin "Days." Lin responds. "Well, no more than a week, at worst... probably." Has she.. TRIED to make a ship of that size so quickly? "I won't know until I try. But I can fund an attempt and if it works out I'd just need the costs covered. That's how confident I am." She states proudly.

But as far as being an Exigent is concerned? At that question she gains a quick case of the nerves and anxiously declares, clapping both hands together and keeping them pressed for the explanation, "Well, I've never met any inventor or engineer who'd call themselves ordinary..." Which isn't really an answer...

She's definitely a something.

"A ship that big will have a very deep draft. It'll only be suited for the big rivers, not the smaller ones. At that scale it would need to be hauling a fair bit of cargo to be profitable regularly to pay for its own maintenance in the long term..."

Tiziri "I think you talk too loudly, perhaps. Too envious of rather specific blessings." Tiziri notes first, looking with narrowed eyes for a moment, then turning towards her food and taking a little bite of it. Then a further sip of her drink to follow that up. "Either way, no. I don't think I have a solution if even the barges on the Great River won't let him sail. Like I said, the ocean is out of my purview. I'm from the deep desert after all." She finishes up her drink then too. Then takes a deep breath. "I fear I must probably eat and dash, I have a performance to attend very shortly."
Amethyst Amethyst grins at Lin's akwardness. "We should talk at my shop sometime. Go over the fine details and all of that. I do have some ideas I'd like to share." Amethyst says. "And it definitely sounds like I'll be scaling up my production, just a matter of how, exactly." And a bunch of other things but she can talk all of that over with her business partners later. For now she offers a hand, "I'd be pleased to see your skills at work, Lin."

Then Amethyst looks at Tiziri, and sighs. "Envious? Not these days. I'm mad enough with my own blessings, thank you. I was just curious, looking for options. Was just hoping maybe you could give me some." The alchemist is clearly frustrated. "I think I'll poke my sorcery contacts and see if I can't trade a favor for someone to teach me Summon Elemental, and figure out which elementals would make for good shopkeeps."

She goes and starts on her own food, taking rather large bites.

Lin "Right, I've got a job to complete here with this tutoring." She reaches out with her own hand and shakes Amethyst's, then gives Tiziri a little wave. "Alright, I'm looking forward to this project. Haven't had an opportunity to cut loose like this in... well, don't think I really have. Everything's been small, relatively..."

A moment later she pulls back, looking thoughtful and pondrous as she taps her cheek. "Elementals that make good shopkeeps? Any of them will need training..." she's clearly never heard of anyone using Elementals like that before.

Tiziri "It might be disappointing. But we can talk, yes." Tiziri says to Amethyst. Then smiles towards Lin. "Thanks for the food. It was all delicious." She adds with a little wave before starting to stand up and slipping off into the distance. Soon enough she has faded into the crowd. Something she seems to move through rather gracefully and easily. Of course the fact she's petite only helps with disappearing as such!
