Black Pearl Black Pearl's office and suite are always maintained very nicely, clean, well-stocked with food and drink, and well-organized. At the moment, the Mistress of the Chateau appears to just be going through the motions, not quite of dance, but as though she is moving through a crowd--a hostess greeting people, disengages, and going through the milieu of phantom guests.
Amethyst Amethyst finds herself joining in the dance of phantom greetings and graceful depatures, gliding not quite as gracefully as her hearthmate but doing her best. At the least, she's come a long way from the relatively uncivilized wyld-dragon she was when Salara first her. After some time she stops, and looks towards Pearls, "It's almost like flying, floating between individuals, and dancing, constantly moving to and fro like water beneath a bridge. There's a lot of art to all of this."

"I still wonder if sometimes I'd be better just sticking to my alchemy lab." She murmurs, but she knows why she has to go through this training, she did ask Pearls to help, after all.

Black Pearl "There, is, and it is a deadly one," Pearl replies before she stills herself, and her posture changes. She becomes more relaxed, not as intensely light and airy. "And your lab is wonderful! But I understand that you want to learn to be more than you are...or at least appear to be."
Amethyst "The consequence of my secrets is greater than most." Amethyst nods. "IF they can read past my eyes, it would be bad for all of us. I never imagined I'd need this sort of training. But I fear my words must indeed become as deadly as my weapons." She's a lot more fanciful when she wants to be.

"Creating other identities was part of this plan. I need some identity that can't be readily traced back to Yim Ametis for when I need to do things that Lookshy very much will need to /not/ know about." She explains. "...And I still kind of can't believe that Bright, Rishi, and Fudou are all onboard with me becoming one of the Dragons of Lookshy. Fudou even congradulated me. I guess I really don't know or understand him."

Black Pearl Pearl blinks slightly. "If Rishi is in favor..." she shakes her head. "Well, I will certainly help with things. First of all...decide who you are going to be. Your role, your origin. A role you will play better than any actor ever could, yes?"
Amethyst "Rishi was alright as long as I was careful." Amethyst says, nodding.

"For Yim Ametis, well, there's a reason I call the role the 'misfortunate alchemist', who first was born to nothing in Champoor to a bastard father who'd been exiled there. Had my household go up in flames and only I and my father survived, anathema was involved. Then I ended up being dragged away by my fae mother to endure the wyld. And all of it's just made me stronger. Now I've managed Sapphire Circle Workings, reverse engineered supernatural venoms, and learned nearly every trick in the alchemical book. And I yearn to finally put all of my talent and effort to use for someone other than just myself." She explains,

"And if they get into my past, I admit that I was taken in by a band of Exigents here in Great Forks for a long time. Each of them have their own quirky powers. You are gonna be harder to explain when they figure out the two of us are connected, especially if they've figured out what work you /really/ do. I definitely don't want to underestimate the counterintelligence officers of Lookshy."

"What /is/ your cover story, anyway?" She asks, grabbing some fruit and nibbling on it, giving Salara time to think and answer.

Black Pearl Salara laughs, "Well, it is a good one. I am a Cynis dynast sent abroad in scandalous disgrace to oversee things here, and try to make my House money and connections, without bringing publicity to myself in the Realm. Hence, hedonism and dissipation. Largesse and luxury. And the best story is much the truth--I truly try to run the best entertainment establishment here. So it is the truth, just not the /whole/ truth."

"As for your roles...I can think of two more...but you want to craft apperances for them both," she says. "The first is a skilled thief, and the other...do you think you could be a tutor?"

Amethyst "I think I'll get Rishi to help me figure out the exact shapes." Amethyst says, "Of everyone I know she's probably best at it. As for me and you?" Amethyst pauses, "I wanna say the story should be something like, being the first Dragon in the city to take me seriously and someone who understands the sort of disgrace that has shadowed me my entire life, I just sorta fell head over heels for you. And lacking any decent prospects of your own you accepted me into your life?" Memories of that day the two of them swore the oath is a stark contrast to this version of events. "Or is that too cheesy?"

"And a thief and a tutor. The thieving I know I can do. I could even use the mask trick to better disguise myself. But Tutoring? Huh." She considers, "I lack the magic to conceal my anima, but I could see myself as a tutor. I do know, um, a lot, and I think I'm alright at teaching others?"

"Though I'd think a sorceress alchemist of some renown would make for a better tutor than someone I've invented whole cloth, no?"

Black Pearl "And that would work, for how we met and things happened. Especially if it started professionally--I'm buying drugs and pharmaceuticals from you--and things get personal and passionate." She smiles and takes a piece of abble and a slice of cheese to eat together, savoring for a moment.

"Mmmm....as far as a tutor goes...how many tutors are famous? Not many. It's something you can be competant and yet mostly unknown...and maybe have the tutor as the cover identity of the thief! Establish yourself with the underworld that way, and the tutor identity does double duty."

Amethyst "I like it. My drugs've made us both a lot of money haven't they?" Amethyst grins. And then she considers.

"A cover identity for my fake identity. That's something I could get behind. Even if they unmask me they find the hapless tutor traveling around the Scavenger Lands instead of a particular alchemist." Amethyst says, "I'll have to do work on this particular cover. Establish where she's from and things such as that. A good name too, and a story about how she came to be here. Then from that figure out her appearance. Birthmarks, scars, tattoos, hair color, eye color, build..." She grins as she starts to form ideas.

Black Pearl "A word of warning! Don't just make it the opposite of yourself. That can draw attention as well. Also, if you are always short and small, it will be easy to track you that way. But yes, develop your legend, your appearance, the role. Maybe carve a mask to put you into the feel of it? Try the trappings? New clothing style, and the like."
Amethyst "To be fair, there's limits to how big I can make myself." Amethyst grumbles. "But I can at least be average sized. And caution noted. A mask sounds like a great idea. Carefully carve her.. not her face, but her /style/. A style distinct from my own. Something familiar to me, but not of me, if that makes sense."

"She'll need to be mortal, but probably the suspiciously competent sort that we seem to keep running into." Amethyst grins. Then she contemplates, "Debating between the River Province, the South East, or one of the other directions. With the first two I know quite a bit about how they operate, and if we do the West then I've read quite a bit about it and heard just as much from my father. South works 'cause I know Flametongue, but I've only had scant ideas of who those people are and what they're like. The southeast has the issue of it being my own home, and maybe too close for comfort. I think the River Province, a small time scavenger lord almost dies, gets out of the business and starts into tutoring, then gets bored of that and starts up a sidegig of thievery?"

Black Pearl "Well, you can do something, like you're actually from the River, but pretending to be from the South. They get through one layer and stop there. Or am I being too twisty?" She smiles a bit, "But I think you get the idea now. It's not just disguising your clothes, or yourself, but using a role to disguise yourself, to present as something different." She smiles, and then tstraightens, her bearing becoming more regal, commanding, even her appearance sharpening, intensifying her beauty. "This here, I could be a satrap...or the Silver Empress, for instance." And in that moment, her conviction is complete. "I rule all through my loyal subjects, and help guide them, yes? But all is ultimately mine to reign over."

She then closes her eyes and withdraws in on herself a bit, sliding to her knees. "Or perhaps I am the captured slave, to serve an owner and master, with nothing of me important, but only others' desires?"

And then she shivers slightly and stands up, returning to herself. "I cannot tell you to not lose yourself in your roles. Just make sure you can find yourself again."
