Tiziri Along the side of a stream that eventually feeds into the big river, there is a bridge. By this bridge is a park. It's the sort of place people go to relax, and others set up food stands. Try hard enough you may even find some solitude, insofar as such can be found in the city. Right now there is a young woman (Tiziri) with blue hair and a dress in the local fashion kneeling down with a large, boxy instrument with seven strings. It gives off a twangy sort of sound and she seems to be experimenting or playing scales, no sign of busking or anything. Merely a young woman out on a nice day trying to practice an instrument!
Shining Azurite First flowing words is herself traveling, having had some better look. She stops to listen, caught for a moment in the bustle before she finds a comfortable place to stand and listen to the woman. "What an interesting sound." she says, offering a polite smattering of applause, before returning to simply and quietly listening.
Tepet Makara "I never realized you were also a performer Tiziri" A man in a grey kimono with the mons of a Great House appears and seems to be familiar with the singer. However it seems there is someone else besides him. "Hmm, I see I'm not the only audience here."
Tiziri The young woman ends up looking up as the applause happens. Seems like she was (perhaps) a bit too caught up in her playing to realize. "Oh my gosh. Thank you. But there is no need, I was just trying to practice somewhere nice. The man who sold me this said it is meant for playing in poetic environments." She says to the woman before she looks over towards Makara and bows her head. "Not particularly. At least not with this. I am trying to learn it though, it is a wonderfully lovely song and favored by poets in the Hundred Kingdoms and Realm amongst other places. So I hoped that I may, perhaps, help to find some of the same inspiration for my own poetry."
Shining Azurite There is a nod. "Well I think you are doing a fine job with it." she says, "Besides which, I don't know that I've actually seen that insterument played. And it is always, always good to see another performer." she adds with a smile, before giving a deep bow to the man. "And greetings to you as well, Honored One."
Tepet Makara "Good to see you as well. Hmmm I assume you're new to Great Forks? Since I never saw you before" He nods to the stranger and turns to Tiziri. "Ah, so it's a famous song throughout the Hundred Kingdoms and the Realm. Hopefully it does give you some inspiration to write your own"
Tiziri "Really? You must be rather new to the area. It is quite popular here, not to mention the salons of the Realm." Tiziri explains to the woman. Then she holds her hands up, left fist in her right open palm, a gesture or bow common amongst wanderers and martial artists especially. Her head bowing slightly. "Though I'd again claim I'm not a performer, at least not of this. Dancing, perhaps. Poetry, for sure. But still. Thank you." Then a pause, before she adds, "I'm the Ardent Vagabond, Tiziri." Then she looks over towards Makara and laughs, "Oh hardly. It was just scales and technique! I've yet to manage a song, I am merely trying to get an ear for the instrument. I dare say you are both too kind."
Shining Azurite "Ardent Vagabond? What an enchanting name! And yes, I am new to Great Forks. I am First Flowing Words, merely finding my way and hoping to find people who enjoy the beauty of song. And a poet. Goodness!" she considers "A dancer and a poet? How fabulous!"
Tepet Makara "I'm Tepet Makara, water aspect." He introduces himself to the stranger with courtesy. "Ah I see you are an artisan yourself, although I don't exactly have such talents besides war and martial arts" He then turns to Tiziri regarding the poem "I probably didn't hear about it since I'm not exactly familiar with art"
Tiziri "Oh, I'm a wanderer first and foremost." Tiziri responds to the woman. "Things like dancing and poetry happen quite naturally on the road. My sobriquet came from a companion one time as we were both rather drunk and I spoke happily over how much I love the sights and time on the road. He responded I'm such an ardent vagabond, and it stuck!" She grins. Before looking to Makara and saying, "Don't worry then, you missed nothing. Though I would dare to say almost every classical author of both the modern and ancient times would claim that talents in the arts directly aid in talents in war. I certainly find dancing to apply quite well towards martial arts."
Shining Azurite "War and Martial Arts are the cause of many of the arts as well." First says with a smile. "Ballads, poems, and probably dances are often based on successful, if bloody exploits. It's one of the only reason I am so excited about this tournament." she quickly adds. "Besides which, a prince of the Earth is...surely beyond our humble pursuits. And anything they do would be art, yes?"
Tepet Makara "Although I'm not interested at first, the appreciation for the arts has grown on me. Even if it's not done by a prince of the Earth, it can be considered an art" He says to First Flowing Words as mortals can be capable of such beauty. He then responds to Tiziri regarding dance and art. "Ah yes, I have heard of subtle martial arts where it's disguised as dance but can still be fatal. I once heard from my monk sifu of slaves who secretly practiced a martial art disguise as such"
Tiziri "I've seen entire multi-person dances that are based on battles or stories of old. They are quite impressive." Tiziri agrees. "Sometimes even small villages have dances of their own." She adds with a nod. Then she gets a pensive sort of look for a moment before saying to Makara. "I dare admit, humbly of course, that I certainly see many similarities in the footwork of my spear as I've seen in footwork of dances. And that ignores the ones I've watched that tell tales of warfare."
Shining Azurite There is a deep, appriciatve bow from First Flowing Words as she listens to both of them. "And...a dance that kills? I'm sure there's something poetic about that. But in truth, I am simply hopeful I never have to live to see it. It sounds rightly terrifying. Still. I will leave that to the dancer." she adds. "Perhaps we will be favored enough to see an example of one of the...safer dances you speak of?"
Tepet Makara "I'm not familiar enough with dances that I can practice it but hopefully Tiziri knows of one" He says with an embarrassed tone since he is not exactly the best performer. "My moves are sadly mostly Water Dragon style anyway
Tiziri "I certainly wouldn't know about killing dances." Tiziri says, looking a bit shocked. "But there are so many things in Creation perhaps that exists too. So many wondrous things, both wonderful and terrifying." She takes a deep breath as she looks up towards the sky, "I fear I have to get going though, I have a lesson scheduled with a local master." An impish look comes to her face, "He was most impressed when I beat him in a poetry contest. But I digress, I would not wish to be tardy to such a thing." She gathers up the instrument carefully before all too gracefully coming to her feet, that she claims to be a dancer is obvious in her movements. "It was most wonderful to meet you Miss First Flowing Words. And to see you again, Mr Makara." As she starts to take her leave she adds, "I would suggest looking into Sword Dances, you'll find they are much like katas." With that the young woman makes her way off towards the city hurriedly.
Shining Azurite There is another deep bow. "I will be leaving as well, with your assent, oh Prince of the Earth. But thank you all for frittering a little time away with me." with that, she slips away.
