Shining Azurite First Flowing Words is out and about once again. This time, the musician has posted up at the parade grounds, languidly watching and occasionally strumming her Sanxian, especally if anyone comes to question what she is doing. She has made her way to the top of a low wall, and is simply letting her feet dangle, enjoying the sight of men and women practicing, focusing especally on all the unique sights and especally the sheer variety and panoply of troops and mercenaries that pass by in this busy district.

Still, she moves to slowly strum out a pattern, working words in her head to a tune with martial implications, though it is nothing like a martching song. Muttering quietly about finding a consoence with the word clash.

Raullaur One of the compounds has beastmen training in it, and they fight well, drilling together and making complicated maneuvers look like a fluid dance. Others of them patrol throughout the city as guards.

And one of them, dressed in plain linens, walks along the wall as steadily as he would a broad sidewalk. "Looking to watch the show?" His voice is a deep, rumbing bass, almost purring.

Shining Azurite There is a start as she notices there is someone talking to her. She looks up at the man and offers a smile. "Indeed. Looking for inspiration, more like. I hope I'm not seeing anything I'm not supposed to see." she adds. She offers a small nod. "I hope you don't mind that I stay seated, I don't trust my balance nearly as much as a trained fighter." she adds, craning her neck to look up at him.
Raullaur "If I worried about that, we'd do something about it," he says. "And inspiration for...music?" He flicks an ear towards her instrument. "War can be a dance," he says, "So I get someone wanting to set it to song."
Shining Azurite At the mention of music she smiles. "Indeed! I am hoping to make my music have a touch of....undestanding. Versimilitude. Many people enjoy songs about famous battles or important fights, and for my wordings and my strums to sound right I need to see how people move! I need to understand how to make the words work just right. So I have been watching, here. And at the arena of course!"
Raullaur "Have you seen me fight then?" Raul grins. "It can be a lot of fun. War? Not so much. Unless you revel in the destruction of everything." A sober nod then. "What is your name, singer of songs? What stories do you tell?"
Shining Azurite "I am First Flowing Words. And" she looks a little abashed, but only a little. "In truth, I sing the songs that people want me to sing. I make them beautiful, and fine, and I work hard at it. But silver is my Master." she grins. "It is why I am trying to pick up a better repitore of fighting songs. Out this far I find people like them far more then they did in my sleepy home. What is your name?"
Raullaur "I'm Raullaur," he says, the name a purring rumble that almost doesn't sound like a word at all. "Good to meet you, First. Now for songs, there's several types, if you hear me out. First? Comedy and Bawdy. Second? Heroic and stirring. Third? Somber and meloncholy. Last? Grief and rememberance. There's tales of battles won, battles lost, grieving absent friends. Anyone worth fighting at your side...he'll love those things. Or curse you for making him weep, even as he throws you the last silver in his his pouch." He thinks a moment, "Done it myself a time or two,"
Shining Azurite There's a grin and a nod "All true." she says. "Though you forgot Riviting and informational. When amongst those without the gift of letters you can also make a fair bit of coin punching things up, as long as you get the winners and the losers right. But yes. You are correct. And I do a dandy grief and rememberance when the mood is right. It's my Heroic and stirring I'm mostly here for. And..." she grins. "A little bit, for ideas for the comic. You get ideas sometimes, seeing training bouts. Nothing where I'd name names of course. But I've seen gaffes before."
Raullaur "Maybe come on campaign with us. Things are heating up. Even if the Three don't hire us, /someone/ will. And then you'll see how we earn our pay," Raul says with a rumbling laugh. "At least you picked the best to watch and learn from," he says with confidence.
Shining Azurite "I see. I don't even hate that idea. I'm sure it would give me a lot to go on." she says. "Though I confess I wouldn't be much use to anyone I don't think. There is no universe where someone like me could possibly learn to fight. Especally against such mighty creatures as yourself or the even mightier Anathama."
Raullaur "Anyone can learn to fight," Raul says. "Not everyone gets the...mind to do it. And Anathema?" He snorts a bit. "I have not seen them to be strong. I have heard stories since coming here, but..." He shrugs. "Maybe if I find any, I'll have a good fight on my hnads.
Shining Azurite She shrugs. "If you say so. As for me, I simply do not find I have the temperment nor ability to fight anyone. But, I have run at times, when men became too drunk or too...inclined. And I am sure you will. I have heard tales. I have sung tales I heard. They say it takes a score of even the Chosen of the Dragons to fell some of them!"
Shining Azurite She quickly adds. "I am sorry I am aware some of my terms are....I promise I am not loyal to the Empire but we are where we have come from at times."
Raullaur "And there are scores of scores of dragons, but few others. And yet...they are scattered all around. How often do you see a single score of dragons together?" Raul grins. "Empire never reached out to where we were. Too far, I suppose. And nothing but wilderness and plains and savannahs. Where are you from?"
Shining Azurite "From Pangu. And...you see them scored together when they are on the hunt. Or in the City." she says, "But the last is hearsay on my part. In truth, I come from dirt." she says simply. "My parents were farmers. Luck brought me my insterment, and I diligently learned to play it. I learned to play it much faster when I learned the true character of my husband." she adds. "And since then I have been on the road, making my silver and wandering further and further afield. Though not so far afield as where it sounds like you started."
Raullaur "Don't know Pangu, but don't know most of the East, let alone Creation. Bet you have tales to tell, but not to just anywone," He flicks his ear, then asks, "And what next? Is this your goal? Will you go on somewhere else? Looking for a husband for later?"
Shining Azurite She considers. "I don't know that you'd like Pangu. There's a city there but...it's a lot. Different. Very Imperial." she says. "And right now, I'm planning to spend some time here, unless another offer goes my way." she looks...nervous at the mention of a husband. "As for men...I don't know. I've seen many at their worst. It is not that I am not interested but..." she says. "I'd have to see them once they have seen the bottom of the jug." she manages a laugh.
Raullaur "Yeah. Definitely get that. So for now, enjoy your life. Figure things out, and seize life as you can!" He laughs, "For now, though, I do need to start to the arena."
