Rishi The hole in the wall door that leads to the Temple of the Lady of the Changing Waters has been improved with fine paints and some other decoration. However, the long line and crowds seem to have thinned to being almost absent, so any watchers may watch without being observed.
Pyrope Ranut Pyrope Ranut touches the frame of the door, one small temple amongst hundreds. Maybe thousands. "So, who is this we're meeting in this place Perfect Question? It's not that distinct from much of the others, though the fact this place looks like it's seen a little love recently speaks well to it." He taps at the paint.
Serene Herald Perfect Question comes to the temple, dressed neatly, with another with him. "A lovely place here," he says in Flametongue. "We are meeting Rishi, an Exigent from the Lady of Changing Waters. A very skilled and puissant healer, she is." He comes in, and offers his weapon to an attendant at the door. "She has helped a number of people injured at the tournament."
Pyrope Ranut Pyrope Ranut follows him inside, demurring from offering anything to the weapon servant because he has nothing to part with unless this temple seeks to confinscate his hands. "A vital role." He answers back in Flametongue, taking the view in as they go. He's dressed for travel, sturdy pants and a belted vest, but has at least had the good grace to visit one of the city's baths before calling on a colleague in town or meeting whoever the man wants him to meet. The cloth wraps around his fists and forearms even got a wash so most of the dried blood is gone.
Rishi After meeting the attendant and going inside, there is a long corridor before you reach the main temple. Inside is a room with a large central fountain full of pure, clear water under a skylight that shows the clear sky above. The blue and white tiles and abstract mosaics that line the floors and walls, along with several large mirrors give the room a feeling of being larger than it is.
A beautiful woman comes out from a room further back and smiles at you both, her tail swaying in time with her hips. Her wings are folded behind her as she extends a clawed and furred hand. "Ah! It is being Perfect Question, yes? And who is this you have done the bringing of with you?" she says, her voice musical and sweet with a very strong Firetongue accent.
Serene Herald Perfect Question smiles, "Hello, Rishi. Good to see you again," he says in Firetongue rather than River. "This is Tamzi," h says, "a gladiator who is newly come to the city of temples. Tamzi, this is Rishi, a beautiful and quite exotic healer."
Pyrope Ranut Pyrope Ranut says, ""And very far from home too. I'm out of Gem, how about you then?""
Rishi Rishi's grin gets wider as she also switches to Firetongue. "It's nice to meet you, Tamzi! I am from Ysyr. And yes, I am a most accomplished healer."
Pyrope Ranut Pyrope Ranut finally takes her offered hand at that. "Then if I get taken closer to the grave than I'd like, I know exactly whose temple to collapse on the floor of." He says it like a joke, but it isn't a joke. It always pays to know a good magically gifted healer. "Hell of a distance from home for either of us, of course."
Pyrope Ranut Pyrope Ranut says, ""Speaking of nearly dying, I've heard there's some kind of ongoing tournament happening in town. I'd just expected to visit one of the fighting pits to make enough coin to drink, but you hear something mentioned enough times and you get curious.""
Serene Herald "I'm in the tournament myself, but I doubt I'll progress past this round," Question says. "And that is fine by me. Even with learning new Styles and Forms, I enjoy the questions of academics and philosophy more."
Pyrope Ranut Pyrope Ranut slaps the other man on the back. "It's not about win or lose, it's about the rippling effects of strife on the human condition! And also about winning." He turns to Rishi. "Though I always like to hear other opinions, I find those with the gift of healing hands often have the most to say about people beating the life out of one another.
"...that probably could have been phrased better I think." He muses.
Rishi Rishi nods gracefully at the praise. "I ...found myself needing to leave my homeland. For personal reasons. I worked my way north as a traveling healer and ended up settling here. It is a nice city." For being so beautiful, she has a terrible poker face.
Rishi nods, "Yes, I have been helping out with the tournament, healing those who have been injured by the grace of the Goddess of the Changing Waters. Unfotunately, that has meant I haven't gotten to see much of the fighting. However, Fudou the Mountain, Chosen of... I'm not sure, I believe a God of Strength? Or Stone? Anyway, he is someone I am friends with and he is a most skilled and dangerous combatant. Be careful if you decide to face him in combat."

She smiles again, tilting her head to the side as her waterfall of silken dark hair flows across her shoulders. "I am also not preferring fighting. I just have to clean up afterwards anyway, which is most annoying." she laughs like the sound of jingling bells, then looks closer at Question. "Oh! Are you a Sorcerer as well?" She taps her eyes. "I recognize the sign."
Serene Herald Question laughs slightly. "If I had a chance at winning, I would be strive more for it. As it is, I can do my best and learn from others directly." Hearing Fudou's name, he nods. "He would certainly beat me in a duel, so if it comes up, well, I've had a good enough run."

Rishi gets a bit of an eye. "Quite a long way to travel, and certainly a lot of stories there, I'm sure. For me? I know some sorcery. You met my familiar before--it was impressed with the respect you showed it."

He then looks to Tamzi, "So what /did/ bring you to the land of rivers and plains, far from the sands and savannahs?

Pyrope Ranut Pyrope Ranut shrugs. "What brings anyone anywhere? I live by my fists. Sometimes in fights, those feel more pure. Other times, mercenary work sets a path. And sometimes people who control the purse strings strongly suggest we go get out and touch grass as it were." He spreads his hands wide. "How fortunate for me that I ran across a familiar face here in Great Forks who knows such a fascinating and beautiful woman who excels at putting organs back inside of the body!"
Rishi Rishi grins, headtilting the other way. "I do appreciate the flattery. It will definitely get you a discount on the next time you need healing. Try not to ruin my purse too much."
Rishi nods to Question. "Well your familiar was a very impressive god. It was my privlege to meet him. " she smiles. "I also know a little sorcery. If you are ever interested in learning one of a couple of the spells I know, I could perhaps teach you."

Rishi steps back, and gestures at the fountain. "I know I told you this before Question, but I wish to make sure your friend is aware." She draws herself up, looking poised and serious, though still with a touch of joy. "When I was Chosen, the Goddess blessed the fountain here. All those who are bathing in it are becoming their true selves, those people that they wish to be, inside. Should either of you wish to be bathing, you may do so. We do not restrict this blessing and wish it avilable to all." And here she does smirk a bit "Though, of course, donations are welcome from those who can afford it."
Pyrope Ranut Tamiz kneels and touches his fingers to the pool. "I think the gap between who I am and who I want to be is more here." He reaches a hand up to tap the side of his head. "And here." He closes the hand into a fist. "Though I'll keep your temple in mind if anyone in the city seems in need of that service." He pauses.

"So I have to ask, is that where the wings and claws come from? Or is that just how you are? Gods know I've met the whole range of people on the road. Not trying to pry nefariously, just curious."

Serene Herald "I have seen it happen," Question assures Tamzi. "But I am comfortable with my form, so even were I to bathe, I think it would simply make me wet." He laughs, "I will save your blessings for those who crave them."

At the question, he then looks to Rishi. "I apologise if my aquaintence is impertinant. I thought it a secret, and yours to tell. Though I admit to some curiosity. At a guess, I think you had some of these features before you were chosen, and part of the choosing was to bring them out to enhance your beauty?"

Rishi Rishi waves her hand. "It is fine. When I brought back the waters from ...the Goddess's Lake and poured them into the fountain here and the blessing occurred, I bathed in the water. I stepped out looking like this and having been Chosen." She grins. "My true self was wilder than many expected when I was first Chosen."
"Mmmm... Not quite. I bore wings in my youth, but I was ...forced to give them up when I became a Sorcerer." Waving her hand across her body, she says "It seems I never lost my yearning for them. The beauty..." she grins. "When your body does not match your soul, when you look in the mirror and do not see yourself, you become sad and depressed. Once who you are matches what you see..." her grin widens, though you're not entirely sure how she manages that without splitting her head open. "The feeling of being right in your body, it grants a degree of joy that cannot be described. And happy people are beautiful."
Pyrope Ranut Tamzi stands from where he was kneeling by the pool. "Well, your life story is your life story. Losing something so integral must have, to not put too blunt a point on it, been miserable. Good on you for finding them again." He looks Rishi over. "And you're quite right, happy people are beautiful." He lingers slightly on the claws.
Serene Herald "I think..." Perfect Question pauses a moment, choosing his words carefully, then frowns slightly and turns his head to look at seemingly nothing, before speaking in Old Realm, "Greetings, Unseen One. I mean no harm or disrespect to any here." Formal, almost severe as he inclines his head deeply.

He shakes his head a moment, then looks over to the others. "I agree, happiness is beautiful, and I am glad you have found joy in your form, and your life." He smiles easily, "And this is truly a wonder you have here. Have you ever had anyone surprised at their form? Perhaps surprised at themselves and take a while to accept things?"

Rishi Rishi headtilts at the Old Realm, starting slightly, so she clearly *understands* what he said. She nearly gestures something, but stops herself before she moves too much. When Question moves on to discussing the blessing she hops on that point quite eagerly. "Oh yes, the Blessing of the Goddess is most wondrous!" then she grimaces. "...Not even the gods are perfect. Sometimes people are not understanding themselves or are being unsure. But! I am being the Chosen of the Goddess and a skilled healer. When such things happen, they can speak to me if they are still not feeling right in their body and I can help them through the bathing ritual once more, so they can become themselves properly. But it is very rare that such things happen."
Pyrope Ranut Pyrope Ranut says, ""The gods? Imperfect? That's certainly a thing to be saying in the temple district of Great Forks.""
Serene Herald "As a philosopher, I admit that the perfect is conceivable. As a scholar, I admit that I have never seen or experienced it--though your beauty is sublime," Question says. "What would Creation be like iwth perfection to exist within it? What would the Heavens be?" He shakes his head. "Interesting to think about." And he stifles a slight yawn. "Please excuse me. I do need to get back to where I am staying, but do not let that stop you on my account. We will meet again." Stated with absolute certainty.
Rishi "They are more knowlegable about their specialties than nearly any, so if they are still not perfect, they are much closer to it than you or I, and thus deserving of our respect." she says a bit curtly.
"Oh of course." her smile is back, but it's a little ...wary. "I always have time for courteous visitors."
Pyrope Ranut Tamzi watches him go. "Well that was about normal for us, I suppose." He turns back to the woman. "Though I sense I touched a nerve there, apologies." He offers a bow that's been rehearsed a thousand times facing martial competition. "The temple seems a little quiet at the moment and I'm entirely new to the city. Can I make amends by buying you something to eat or drink from one of the thousand and one choices that seem to fill this city?"
Rishi Rishi briefly looks around, and then headtilts, thinking, before smiling sadly. "I'm afraid that I am too busy today, but perhaps another time. For now, I would suggest the food stall about a block down that way." She points. "The people who run it do wonderful Prasadi dumplings."
Pyrope Ranut That gets a laugh. "Sounds delicious and fair enough. I'll see you around, Rishi of the magic pool." He raises open hand to closed fist and bows a farewell this time. "Hopefully not being patched up, but one never knows." And with that departs to the streets of Great Forks, to see what else there is to see.
Rishi "Tamzi," as he leaves, can feel her eyes boring into his back. If he turns to look, he'll see her with narrowed eyes and a slightly ...hunted expression. But only for a moment, before she meets his gaze with a level look, then turns and walks back into the shadows of the temple.
