Serene Herald The day is all right. The river is slow, and people are all on it, which means that talking is drowned out by the calls of people shouting commands to make the small boats. And Perfect Question--as he is known here--has chartered one for himself and a guest to go out on the rivers.

As it is, the Serene Herald of the Cessation of Strife and Sorrow stands and waits, dressed in a severe, dark suit with purple highlights and trip, and a sword across his back, waiting for his colleague.

Shining Azurite Shining Azurite, for her part, has hidden away her role's garb, and is dressed in somewhat finer clothing than her destinies are usually seen in. Nothing too ostenatious, but a tightly wrapped dress, something that clings and holds to her, in a soft seaform. She stands, watching the waters, her back turned to her confederate. Eventually, slowly she speaks. "It is good to speak to a true peer, finally." she offers, pulling out a wineskin to sip from. "How does your posting find you, Serene Herald?"
Serene Herald "It is...puzzling so far, Shining Azurite. And it is definitely good to talk to someone who understands." He has a hint of a smile. "I have a few persons of interest that I am looking into, but most of all, I am trying to find the /beginnings/ of the ripples that have obscured Fate here, that I may see the /appropriate/ ends. What of you?"
Shining Azurite There is a firm nod. "Likewise, I've gotten a few people I am looking at. I haven't even dug into anything related to causes. Simply getting the trust of the more...simplistic or useful pawns in the area. Getting one of my simple, pliable faces placed forward and letting the Chosen of all stripes get comfortable with those eyes lurking around. Why not tell me of your burdens, and I can see if I can ease them?"
Serene Herald Herald chuckles slightly. "Well, I am learning sword styles," he says. "But otherwise..." He trails off a bit. "Sometimes I just feel alone, and worthless." His eyes close a moment. "Useless." Definitely sober and serious.
Shining Azurite Shining...stares at him for a long, quiet moment. And then she laughs. "Ah. What a good joke! I see. I see!" she grins. "If you really don't trust me, I can say I am curious about the one they call Fudou. Along with a couple others but...many of the others I am starting to gain a handle on. Him though...he gives me the feeling of a dangerous wild card." she turns to face him utterly, hands open. "And I hope that admission can loosen your tongue a little bit. After all. None of the Fellowship should have -time- to worry about such things." her hands come together, and she offers him the wine skin. "And if they did...all the more reasons to redouble their work. There is no time to fail when you are trying to pull this wretched era out of the fire."
Serene Herald "You asked about my burdens," Herald says desert-drily. "If you asked about people of interest, I am dealing with two in particular. Others are looking into the Mountain. For myself, it's the swordswoman I am learning Shining Point style from, and the...very /exotic/ healer who says she is the Chosen of the Lady of the Changing Waters."
Shining Azurite Shining Azurite blinks once, and twice. "I..." there is another nod "For me, my burdens and my targets are the same." she relaxes slightly. "I apologize for being less than precise. Still, I do not think I have met either of them. Though commendation is to be in order. My understanding is that is a pussient martial art. But..." she considers. "Ok. Make me understand. If not burdens. Tell me of your goals. I'm willing to help a fellow fivescore."
Serene Herald "My targets are my job, and my job is not a burdeon. It is who and what I am. My goals?" He gives a slight smile, "Aside from discerning precisely how things have gone awry here, look into possible corruption that allowed this to happen. But truly? To understand these events, these people, so that I can project how things should change. What I should work to bring to a proper end that is a prope beginning for the Fate of Tomorrow."
Shining Azurite "Ah. Different views but...yes. We have the same goals then. At least for the time being. I am new here so I am trying to get up to speed, and work in harmony." she says, calmed heavily. "I am...simply trying to figure out what segment of the field I should focus on. Because...down here." she admits. "I know they said there would be many important people. And yet I still was not prepared for how many." and there's a grim smile. "And sadly, as much as it is a common tool, I do not think just bringing a wild hunt in and drowning this place in crimson would serve anyone well."
Serene Herald "Not to mention the rulers of the city would resist it--they haven't been beholden to the Realm ever, so you'd have to have overwhelming might--on the order of at least one Legion--or stealth. Assassins. Bribery. Bad luck and the like. And can the Hunt do those well?" Herald muses.
Shining Azurite "Indeed. All good points. So instead, here we are, plotting things out and figuring out how to put these pawns to good use. You see why I reached out to my fellows for understanding and help. I have no wish to step on your toes. And while, I think I need to learn people a little more. As I have said. I am happy to make figuring out the fate of this place a collaboration. If you are willing."
Serene Herald "I think we can do that. We /might/ be able to get local authorities involved in our favor. Especailly if we stress that we don't /want/ to leave Destiny in Oversight here, or transition back to mortal rule, since gods are supposed to rule in the heavens, yes?"
Shining Azurite Now at that she grins. "I think the government of the city is fine just as it is frankly. I simply wish peace and indolence. And mortals -are- in charge of the city, yes? Everyone says so." and it takes no real effort to pierce how her grin grows dark and wry. "But we agree I think, on those fundaments. Don't flip the table, simply make sure we can keep any plates from falling off."
Serene Herald "Unless necessary. I am a /Reckoner/. Endings will come. Change will come. My job is to see that it is the /proper/ change done in the /proper/ way. That is what my lady desires." A slight grin, "After all, it was a series of great changes that made the world as it is now."
Shining Azurite "Ah yes how insensitive of me." she says. "Still. I at least plan no additional endings, at least not merely for the sake of them. Toppling a perfectly good city for example. Or convincing an army to come in. Or setting fire to an arena. All sour notes and sudden, inappropriate endings." she smiles. "My Maiden wishes firm bonds and easy smiles. But that takes a little more work than you would think in our tired world."
Serene Herald "It is still worthwhile work, and I appreciate it. Support it. I just...I am not suited to it at all. I apparently was /almost/ an Oracle, and that would have suited me as well as I am, but..." He shrugs, then smiles. "Is there anything in particular I can help with? Aside from getting to know these others better?"
Shining Azurite "Anything else?" she thinks. "For now. Less than you would hope. But that is only for now. And for now." she nods. "If you meet my dear First Flowing Words, find a place for her in one of your faces. All the easier if we can work together properly, yes? Because I do plan to see you again. And hopefully, I will bring more myself. And you can tell me, if not of your burdens, then of hopes. And I can do the same." she adds. "But for now. I think it is time to get back into town."
